The timing cover was also super clean, and I put a thin coating of blue RTV on both sides of the gasket as well as a good bead on the oil pan gasket where they meet.

Everything was done properly...it just decided to leak...why who knows...poorly designed gaskets and engine.
Ive never had a issue with the china wall leaking. Torn mine down at least 3-4 time now. Black RTV and the Copper orange stuff is all I keep in my garage. The key is snugging that lower intake down right, but first putting on your rtv and letting it sit for a little bit. Just enought to make it tacky. I always let my rtv sit a bit on the gaskets and metal plains for a while(20 min or so) just so that its tacky.

There are some issue areas on our V6's but the motor itself is a solid one I believe. I never had a major problem else then leaky freeze plugs, leaky o ring on the dizz,y and sensors which are going to go bad eventually on a 20 year old motor.

I did everything I could. I took my sweet time cleaning it, adding a good amount of black RTV in a steady bead. It just decided to leak alittle bit of oil at a time.

I am redoing it come spring break -- for me. Hopefully, this time everything will go smooth.

So let it sit for 20minutes or so then install?

100% clear silicone in a caulk tube from walmart $2, cheaper, as good as the rest, doesn't stand out like a sore thumb, easier to apply a bead with a caulk gun.

even works on exhaust connections... no donuts leaks on the Buick, good slather on install, never leak. [wish there was room enough to re-do the 2.8 ones, leaks like a sive on right]

Really? Clear silicone? Hmm, it can handle the temperature and such?

General-purpose, clear RTV indoor/ outdoor sealant. Seals, bonds, repairs, mends and secures glass, metal, plastics, fabric, vinyl, weather stripping and vinyl tops. Protects and repairs electrical wiring. May be applied to horizontal or vertical surfaces.Waterproof and flexible. Temperature range -75°F to 400°F (-59°C to 204°C); resists water, weather, and vibration.

it is not oil/grease chemical proof

dunno where you got that but yes it is, anyone with a dirt bike knows first hand, headers are only held on with springs for wrecks, one good jar and it can open up and suck air, bye bye piston, silicone directly on the header doesn't even flinch.

if the hot oily exhaust from a 2stroke can't harm it......... 2+2= get a new source for info.

Did the same thing on my 9sec drag bike, kaw 750 triple 2 stroke with dirt bike expansion pipes.

Wow dont even get me started on the past few posts about Clear sealant. Ive been at this for a few days. and I'll tell you right now. Anaerobic gasket maker is the stuff to use. I"ve spent a few days working on Volvo's, Saabs, VW's. and always use this stuff. and ive never had a customer come back with something Still leaking. Between this and "Right stuff" for Parts store Gasket maker your in the right direction. Dont Use window Sealer from walmart for christ sakes people.
