Re: Lovin my v6
as far as your cold air intake goes I would go with the stock one...... I put one on my 3.1 and I love it and I also use spectre air filters

3.1 cars don't come with CAI, and what you have isn't CAI. It takes in air from behind the radiator. 2.8 Camaros and TPI 89 and older TPI Camaros have a CAI.

Re: Lovin my v6
Bit of misinformation here:
1. Firebirds do NOT and CANNOT have a CAI unless it's homebuilt due to the hood design. Camaros with the 2.8 CAN possibly have a CAI if equipped with the dual snorkel intake commonly found on TPI cars, but there wasn't one on 3.1 cars. Anyways, any aftermarket intake you see for a Bird is a WAI, a WARM air intake, because it still takes in underhood air which is heated. Again, this is due to the hood design being much closer to the upper radiator support than the Camaro hood.
2. 3.1 and 3.4 engines DO NOT use the same fuel injectors. 2.8 and 3.1 engines DO use the same fuel injectors (actually, the injectors found in a lot of 3.1s are actually SLIGHTLY smaller than most 2.8 injectors). Again, as I've posted before, the 2.8 and 3.1 use either 15.4 or 14.7# fuel injectors and the 3.4 uses the 3100 fuel injectors which are 18.4#.

You will run rich with a 3.4 swap using the 3.4 injectors, but its not horrendous. I ran a 3.4 in mine for 8 yrs and still got 24-25 mpg running rich on a stock 2.8 ECM.

Re: Lovin my v6
my opinon from personal experience with the 660* (60 degree gm v6 engine)
go with the pacesetters you found, flowmasters tend to sound raspy on the 660, everyone likes different sound so DO NOT base your choice on what we like do some research listen to sound clios (in person is MUCH better then a sound clip for trying to find the sound you want)
i wouldnt go any bigger then 2 1/4"piping, as far as a muffler id go with something like a thrush welded, they sound pretty good on the 660 and 4 cylinders, not to loud but do have a grumble when you step on it, okay at idle subtle but not as quiet as stock and pretty much no raspy they dont make it sound to high pitched as for example a flowmaster 80 series did on mine, but thats just my opinion, very clean bird
and yea i vote for the 3.4 swap to iv always wanted to do it! but i cant at the current time lol finishuing the swap into my iroc z28

and for the record, iv never been able to get good fuel milage from a 660 third gen, just to under powered for the weight of the car, hell my tpi 305 with some mild work got much better fuel milage then my 3.1 did, and they are both automatics!

plus "city" is different for everyone, city for me is still 40-50 MPH, not like a major city with bumper to bumper traffic.
limit is 40 through town but everyone does 45-50, highway is 65, evereyone does 70-75

Yes, the Flowmaster is absolutely horrible for any of the 2.8/3.1/3.4s due to the design of the exhaust and the low flow. Plus they are more of a hinderance than not.
2.5" exhaust is OPTIMAL for the V6 up to about 3.6L...
Then there was something wrong with your engine or a bad sensor or something... My 3.1 gave me 30+ MPG (400 miles on 12 gallons of gas) highway with the ECM spitting out a code 45 (rich). And has NEVER given me less than 20 even when running like absolute garbage due to bad injectors. :edit: And seeing as you have an automatic with an overdrive ratio of .70 (mine is .76) and a rear axle of about 3.23 (3.42 here) ratio, you should have gotten better mileage...

Re: Lovin my v6
I agree I remember getting 400 miles on a tank when my car was my DD. Granted that was mainly highway only use but it averaged 25mpgs or so for 50/50 city/hyw driving for the most part.
My car still gets good mpgs when i just cruise it and that is with the turbo build. Its not the best but still is in the 20's on average when not WOT all the time....

Okay guys so i went to put in the new speedo gear and the housing is broken...so now im trying to find new housing and i realized there are alot of different size tooth for the 700r4 as i thought that a 700r4 speedo gear would work with any 700r4 and i got a 45 tooth one...is that the correct size for my car?

Im not sure but depending on the tire size and the rear end ratio you can find it on this link if you wana sift though it.

So Norris transmissions(local auto shop) gave me the housing for free(: and i put the 45 tooth speedo gear on and hoped it was the right one and using the speedometer app on my phone it seems that its 5 mph slow meaning that the speedo would read say 45 while the app would read 50 now the app could be the one off so im going to test it out over the phone side by side with someone and see what they are reading but hey at worst 5 mph isnt bad at least i have a general idea now of how fast im going because its kinda scary driving next to a cop and having no idea how fast ur going lol
