Messed up FPR on 3.1

Car: 1991 Camaro RS 3.1
Engine: 3.1 v6
Transmission: Auto
Axle/Gears: 02 Z28 with disk brakes and Posi.
Messed up FPR on 3.1

so i just replaced my injectors and figured i would check the FPR before putting it all back together. It didnt look bad or have any obvious issues but when i went to put it back in it wouldnt go down and then it ripped. So i have a new one on the way but what do i do to get it to compress so i dont ruin another 70$ part?

So as i was typing this post I had a thought. The older you get the more we tend to do those things. I think i actually put it in backwards. The Spring should go in the hat. That would be why it didnt compress. Wow what a moment.
