LS1 fuel pump on a v6 car

Going to change my fuel pump soon. The guy that is going to do it for me is trying to talk me into Changing to a LS1 style pump in anticipation of my car getting an LS eventually

Would the pressure of a LS pump cause my FPR to blow? Would I need an inline regulator between the pump and the engine?

is this just a bad idea all the way around?

Re: LS1 fuel pump on a v6 car

An LS1 fuel pump will likely not work correctly. There is an outlet on it to drive the jet-pump which is used to keep the fuel slosh container full. I have a picture of it here someplace, but think I can find it...

It is easier to just get a '92 Camaro TPI (5.7L, VIN F) pump and install it.

That's interesting. The guy who would be doing the swaps (and has done them before) was the one who suggested it

Re: LS1 fuel pump on a v6 car

u can run any fuel pump u want the engine doesnt care as long as the pump can provide enough fuel presure

the problem u can run into is if the pump supplys to much volume then the regulator cant bypass enough fuel back to the tank to get the fuel presure down

ur fine up to around a 340lph pump on a stock engine/lines/regulator setup

Re: LS1 fuel pump on a v6 car

in that case, I wonder why the v6 and the tpi use different pumps

Re: LS1 fuel pump on a v6 car

I have a NOS delco pump, but it's for a V6 car. that won't work for a TPI will it? by the way, in the last 48 hours I've found out that I nice TPI engine I know if is going to be available, so I'm thinking of doing that with a LT1 T56 instead

I know it's not as good an engine, but I LOVE the look of the TPI, and it enable me to get the t56
