Car: 1986 Camaro Sport
Engine: 2.8L
Transmission: Auto
Axle/Gears: Stock
Stumped: 1986 2.8l no start
Restarting from another long thread.
Car fires from cold start injector or from injectors when CSI is disconnected. Does not stay running. With CSI unplugged it will only fire a bit if I wait a minute or two between cranking. No codes. Was running then wouldn't run after sitting overnight.
Fuel pressure 42 PSI.
New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition module, ECM, fuel filter.
140 PSI compression (one plug at a time with throttle at idle).
Disconnecting MAF makes no difference. Tried 3 other MAFs with no difference. MAF reads 3 to 9 with Autoxray while cranking.
Tried disconnecting Cat.
All injectors are 16 ohms and cause fuel flow when pulsed individually ( watched the fuel gauge drop).
Sparks all the while the engine is turning.
EGR is not stuck on plus I blocked it off.
Coolant and Air charge temps are close (using Autoxray). All readings are normal. TPS set to 0.5v.
Put a 3.9k on A and B diag connector to force Limp mode. No difference. Didn't seem to enter limp mode.
Disconnected timing bypass plug. No difference.
Cleaned up grounds by battery and engine rear.
Definitely fuel starved.

I just wanted to close this thread by posting the problem I found which you'll find with searching for "old varnished gas issue".
The injectors where dirty and not atomizing the fuel. Yup, fuel starved, LOL, atomized fuel starved, that is.
