160 Degree Coolant -> SES Code 35

As I have not found anything related to this I started this topic.

So basically when my engine reaches around 70Celsius or 160 Fehrenheit I get a SES Code 35!

TPS and IAC have been replaced. The car has a new (used) ECM but the fault came alot later then the ECM was actually installed.

The error code does not appear when I start the car and it appears until the temperature gets below the above mentioned values. Also sometimes if it gets to 90Celsius or above 194 Fahrenheit, it disappears.

Any Ideas? I have read both the Haynes and the 91' GM Service Manual and has no mentioning for this code to appear at a certain temperature level.

When it comes out by the way the car goes like towing 2 tons... Powerless, maybe lower RPM.

Thanks for any advice

Re: 160 Degree Coolant -> SES Code 35

Code 35 is set when the idle speed isn't close to the desired idle speed. It may be that the IAC is bad, sticky, or otherwise unresponsive.

I'll take it out again and try to clean it, however I did it once. However, I am not sure if the coolants temperature rising has anything to do with this. As it seems that triggers the code.

Thanks for the quick response

I didn't look at the calibration much to see if there is a temperature threshold for the code. There may or may not be.

It doesn't make sense that you lose power with this code active, it is just an idle speed mis-match. Is the idle speed off? If not maybe that isn't the right code being blinked out.

Re: 160 Degree Coolant -> SES Code 35

Well, the Idle speed is around 900RPM when in OD. I think that might be the good one, but maybe I'll redo the idle speed learning process.

Can that be a problem?

I don't know if the idle learn will help or not. Try it and see.

Re: 160 Degree Coolant -> SES Code 35

So, I re-learned the Idle, it had some use, now my Idle is at 650-700RPM - but the SES code still comes up, However... I tried to unplug the IAC valve while the engine is running, I escepcted some change or SES code, however, nothing happens, not a code not a unstable RPM nothing...

Is this a bad sign?

Well, the fault is still on, I could not figure out anything as yet for a solution. Any comments are still appreciated.
