Firebird 3.1l v6 from 1992 3.1l a lot of question

Hi all,
i'm new here and I think buy an Pontiac Firebird 3.1l V6 from 1992 and make a lot of modifications on it and I have a lot of question about the computer and engine.

I would buy a Fitech EFI 400hp on it with Intake manifold from edelbrock who flow up to 6000RPM(3785 and 3789) with Comp cam 260H and roller rocker 1.6,springs, distributors with vacuum with HEI
and maybe after an aftermarket exhaust manifold.

The question is. What about fuel consumption with this TBI and can I guess have 190hp with this setup ?

The other question is about the TH700r4, the TCC need only the TPS, coolant temp and speedometer to be engage ?

If it right I can remove injectors,o2 sensors and adapt the tps to the TBI to engage the TCC without buy or build an engager

Now , the last question is about the aluminium heads and Iron heads, Can I put the edelbrock intake on aluminium head or the holes is too much differents ?

I know it's a long text, but it's a lot of question before buy the firebird

thank you very much

Re: Firebird 3.1l v6 from 1992 3.1l a lot of question

Wow is that hard to read and alot of questions.

First stick with the current fuel managment system that came stock on the car IMO. Its got a 7730 ecm in it and thats all you will ever need. Im using that on my 400+ hp car and its a perfectly fine ecm.

2nd the only aluminum heads you are going to be able to bolt onto that engine are from a FWD set up....IE 3100 3400 such as the pic i inserted. Its on my set up. a 3.1L with a 3400 gen 3 top end off a 2002 impala. Its called a hybrid for short here. If you are interested in that look though the stickies and you will fine info on that.

So back to the trans questions. There is no good reason im my mind to ditch the stock 7730 ecm so you dont need to worrie about what sensors need to still be used to run the 700r4 trans.

If you want to mod up the engine a bit. Get that 260 cam or better yet call up delta cams and you can get the exact same cam with lifter sent to your house for much less... 120 bucks or so.

You can also add some headers(look up 2.8L ones) make your own cool air induction system or better yet look for one off a older tpi set up or 2.8L they are dual snorkles which are better then any home made cia anyways.

If you do add a cam and so on you can then tune it with tunerpro software which is free unless you register it. You would then need a aldl cable which is about 60 bucks. A chip burner, chips, and adapter. Those items can be had at moates.net. Many many of us obd1 tuners use that stuff and it works great. All together it cost about 200 bucks to round up the tuning equipment and its relatively easy to learn and maneuver.

Also 1.6 rocker arms wont clear the stock valve covers IIRC. I believe you need to find pontiac feiro valve covers to make that work.

I got a bit confused with your post but there ya go, that's at least my opinion on the matter..lol

Re: Firebird 3.1l v6 from 1992 3.1l a lot of question

I have already think make an hybrid build, but it's more complicate than buy edelbrock intake, efi.
Because the gen II,gen III plenum don't fit with distributor and I need a lot of parts like heads, plenum,Coils packs, chip burner
and in my country the cost will be more higher than my solution. :/

The Idea is make an Fitech EFI edelbrock intake and let the computer for the dashboard and trans if you see what I mean

I really need valves cover from Fiero ? or the edelbrock valve cover can be use ? Because I don't find the Fiero valve cover :/
And I think, if I can use coil pack I will make like you Fasteddi and maybe use the 3.4l with aluminium heads with 3500 head
