Hard (glitchy) starts, glitchy idle stalls in when warm and in gear
Hi Im passionate about these cars I've gotten my V6 to run very reliabely and strong but one day I was forced to drive thru a flooded highway The car started acting up like it always did on a wet day. Misfiring bad, running very rich, wanting to die when foot was on the gas sounding like it was running off of 3 cylinders and when in park it actually would idle for like 3 mins trying to stay alive but would stall with no codes. I've replaced so many essential parts an ive gotten it to run very good and smooth over 2000rpm but if in gear under that it would buck and misfire and or just stall. And with the starts a few days ago i replaced the starter and positive battery terminal with no improvement to my hard starts and glitchy starts when car is warm?
I have two other cars I really set goal to get on the road but I need to be able to drive this one to finish my plans with my 84 Sports coupe and 85 Z.
What all I have replaced within the past month excluding fuel pump
so what im asking is what else can cause my hard starts and no idles and misfires and back fires under 2000rpm? could they all be tied together ??

Sounds like you almost hydro locked it. Happened to me one time luckily it didn't . Its really a process of elimination sometimes. Try fuel filter, Injectors may have gotten water in or on them, intake air temp sensor also would have gotten water on it.. Anything that would have got wet, replace.

So in addition I replaced my oil sending unit and my fuel filter but doesnt fit the idle issue next ill replace my knocksensor and if that does fix it this car will be torn apart for my other cars because everything on the car is new besides knock sensor.

How high up was the water? I know you said you replaced the distributor but have you checked the cap and rotor to make sure no water has caused corrosion?

See ya idk what to look for with the cap the terminals have a little corrosion it dont look like it would cause issues. The rotor has no corrosion. Its also new but the cap isnt so i may replace it thid week. What i did notice this week was when i sea foamed it from the booster i normally have to rev up the engine while doing adding sea foam but this time i added some an the idle picked up around 1500 and sounded smooth. I then noticed alot of smoke comingthe passenger side of rhe motor like alot of smoke.

Also i warrantied and put in a new fuel pump it made that whistling priming sound they always make then 2 days later i notice that the sound changed to a deeper clogged sound I guess and so im kinda wonder if the fuel pump is getting enough power or not because i can no longer hear my pump runing while im driving (i have an access panel)

On a cold start engine revs and holds at 2000rpm then when i put it in gear for 5 mins it'll hold at 1500? Then suddenly just dropped to 500rpm close to stalling? Vacumm leak or electrical issue

the generator is the alternator. between has to be more than 9v and less than 16v to be functional.
that's how my car is. but I am guessing I need all new sensors on mine. I will crank it 2 or 3 times before it starts up. the it will idle at around 1500- 2000 rpms. when I drop it in gear the rpms will drop.
one thing I have noticed is that whenever I am using my brakes my rpms will drop. right before I shift into d and drive the rpms will drop as soon as I hit the brakes.
my egr valve looked fine by just looking at it. however when I touched it it just broke apart. it was being held on my a rusty screw. when I would hit the throttle I would see "smoke" from my passenger side of the engine.
