Temp sensor and cooling fan

Temp sensor and cooling fan

My engine temp with fans on is 180ish but wont kick the fans on untill 230 240
This doaent seem right shouldnt it stay close to the 180ish temp
I do have a fan switch wired in

Help would be greatly appreciated

sounds like a factory fan switch approx 235F and a 180 degree thermostat.
