Speedo and tach problem.

So Recently my speedometer has been acting up. Sometimes it works but now most of the time it does not move at all and from time to time it jumps up and stutters . Never had a problem with it till now, has always worked perfect. Seems like a ground problem or a loose wire. Don't know were to start.

Also my tach stopped working after one of my hoses blew out and coolant got on my ignition coil. I'm pretty sure the coil sends the signal to the tach. Either coil or icm. Gonna be switching those out soon.

Re: Speedo and tach problem.

Usually if you have an event and something stops working right after you look there first. So, you are right the tach signal comes from the coil, see attachment. Try and clean that bad boy up and see if that helps.

Re: Speedo and tach problem.

My odometer and trip ometer also hasn't worked for a while. Use to work but then I got a replacement cluster and never worked again. I also installed a different prom in it. Does anybody know if I need the stock prom for it to work? Cant get it to work.
