its a type of passive forced induction. if u had a good CAI kit, it would be an execellent adition. other than that i wouldnt even bother with it. IMO $75 is kinda a rip off.

I could see the thing working on a TBI or carb'd car, since it would swirl the air/fuel mix right before it enters the engine... but I don't think it'd work well at all on our cars, since you'd put it in before the throttle body. Air has to travel the whole length of the plenum to reach the fuel.

My old site, v6fbody.com, reviewed the Tornado. They saw a tiny gain.. some were happy with it, most weren't. Looks like more of a restriction than anything. I wonder if that's why Hot Rod never reviewed it.

Stop looking for the cheap way to make power. Just get a CAM, Lifter, Rockers, Nitrous. There are no quick fixes for power, no add in that will give you 5,10,15HP....

Just to let some of you know, its not a fuel additive, its a piece of metal that goes in your intake tube and is saposta swirl the air going in, just in case you didnt know that.

well I did know what it is, and it would help a little to get a full stable charge of air flowing through the manifold, though if you have the stock intake tubing it's pointless.

yeah- it looks pretty decent, but I have one question: What makes it work? Does it spin off off of the intake air? I dont see how that would do anything. If it was wired to a power source I could understand. I dont know what it actually DOES.

if you look at it, it has its own swirling motion look built into it, with ridges making a swirling effect. when air hits the fins, it in turn follows the path that was made into the thing, and therefore spins like a "tornado"

This thing has no moving parts. Its like a stationary fan blade is all it really is. The vacuum generated by the running engine sucks air it. When it hits this thing it is forced to swirl.

i actually watched the infomercial for it one night (if u ever look at the time of posts, ull notice im always up at night), the 20hp gain was on a 96 impalla ss. IF u had a STRAIGHT CAI tube, it MIGHT help u. most ull probably see out of it is MAYBE 1-3 mpg better MAYBE 1-2hp. longterm, ull see more of an improvement in gas mileage than anything. my mom has one in her car (95 corolla) and it did help in mpg. but its defiently not a performance part.

Well if you have a 400 HP with a block for the airfoil then add an airstreamed one then yes youd get that...

hey TFM4th, u should use it since u already have it. ill almost bet u wont loose anything by using it. but dont expect to see a huge gain either.. it should pay for itself in about a year wiht a little better gas milage.

if u could, please install it and check ur milage and post it. im curious to see if it actually will do some good in a f-body.

I thought they had a money-back guarantee? Send it back. One other thing- they might guarantee a 5 HP increase, but where? At low RPMs, where the Tornado isn't a restriction to the intake air? Or, at high RPMs, where we'd want to feel it at the dragstrip? I bet it's at low RPMs.

Tom,

I stay up late at night so i have had the misfortune of seeing this informercial several times. They claim that it provides more power acrross all RPM ranges. I fail to see how it can help with the 2.8 and 3.1 's. The intake setup would defeat it. Sure the air would spin before going into the intake, but after it entered the throttle body and upper intake the air would more or less would straiten out

if you guys really wana up your gas milage get powerpullys and just put the one for the crank on it made a hudge difference in my gas milage i used to get 220 miles max per tank now i can go to about 300 miles plus per tank they paied for them selves i think

heres what they claim it does... they have a 69 camaro in there

http://www.tornadoair.com/road.htm

it is a branch of K&N air systems i assume because they had a link to tornado on the K&N web site. so i assumed that it would be good... oh well we'll see

Well supposedly they aren't that bad, it'll at least help a bit and get a KnN with it it'll help, even if it doesn't work the results it claims to it makes an improvement, its your decission, I work at a Chevrolet lot in Boise, and most that have it have noticed a change, I'm going to get it as it is only like 45 dollars for me so I'll let you know, I have the 3.1 v-6, late
