V-6 MPI A/C delete and weight reduction tech article??

Fist make sure there is no charge in the system. Turn on the a/c and if it blows hot air and never gets cold then there is no charge if its cold get it discharged at a A/C shop) Then get all the metric wrences you can find then a few big ones (15 mm) then get a rachet with a small extention and metric sockets (not deep well). Disconect the wires from the fan and MAF, then pull the cold air sensor out and hang them over the passenger side fender (trust me this will save you A TON of blood and time). Then pull the black air lid thing out (goes from the air filters then to the TB). Then disconect the uper line going into the condensor (the thing that looks like a small radiator in front of the radiator) you need two open ended wrences. Then disconect the top line going into the silver canister (It is a black connection) then go behined the compressong and remove the bolt holding in the lines and pull the lines out that you just disconected. Congrats you are haf done. Now for the fun part. Go to the compresson and pull every bolt holding it in and remove the compressor (I cut my hands open pretty bad so wear gloves) after this remove the belt. Now stop go take a break and eat or something. Now come back at look at where the air filters are. There are to curved plactic peices in there that restrict air flow BAD alond with the boxes, pull those and if you are like me and you want un restricted air flow cut the boxes out now you went from haveing four 6x2 air inlits for the engine to having to big boxes open . Now disconect the lower line going to the condensor and silver can but disconect it at the silver can (much easier), now get under the car and pull all the bolts holding the condensor in then pull the bolts out of the radiator cover lean the radiator back and pull the bolts holding the condensor in then pull the condensor. Congrats you are done now just put everything back together. If you dont pull the silver can duck tape over the holes and if you do pull it cover the holes so you dont get carbon monoxide in the car. You just allowed A LOT more air into the engine and lost 40 pounds with the A/C. If you pull the rear seats thats a goot 10 pounds I think. Then at the track pull the spare and jack this will save another 30 pounds or so and with all this you will loose at least a tenth in the quater and feel more power when to go wide open throttle. Also you can pull the sound deadener under the carpet and save ohh 10 pounds then you can pull all the junk laying around the car and I saved 10 pounds doing this. Then you can puy ligther wheels on the car I went from stock steel to the IROCS and lost at least 20 pounds or more and roling resistance.
With this set up and a new cap and rotor, coil, plugs, wires, fuel filter, and gutted air box along with the gutted cat my acceleration went through the roof and I felt a difference from out of this world. I went from flooring it and just accelerating to chirping the tires or for a bit and I am shooting for a 16.5 the next time I go to the track.... not bad for a 2.8 with an auto tranny and 130k. I probably weigh 3,200 pounds with me in it and I weigh 170 pounds. Soon I will be getting a fiberglass hood and that right there is like 30 pounds. Remember it is said that for every 100 pounds you loose you loose a tenth in the quarter and it does not cost anything to do weight reduction just a weekend
Good luck
David
