had a race today...
today after school some guy who has been running his mouth about his cutlass came into our parking lot and was mouthin my friend about his car (81 gran fury, 318) so they went out and raced and my friend got beat, so i lined up beside this big bad a$$ "350 rocket", held it about 4grand and droped the hammer, i immediatly took 5 car lengths off the line and when i crossed the 1/4 mile finish i still had 3 car lengths on him
, whos to say v6's can't hang with v8's??

Not to be cruel. But I feel any V-6 can beat a V-8 that is never tuned up. if some guy has a 350 he thinks he has power, but they often forget to replace the little things that Us V-6 guys seem to notice.

That is all so true! I have a friend who has a 1987 Trans-Am with a 305 TPI and it's totally like beaten, and runs for crap, and I've beaten him multiple times. It's gotta feel pretty crappy to go home knowing I pay less insurance, and get better gas mileage...

no it doesn't have hydrolics no one around here has enough money do do anything like that, all the cars that are lowered just had their coil springs heated, color coded electrical tape is the cool thing around here
well...
eh..my time has fluctuated from 16 seconds (stock) to somewhere between 15.5 and 14.5...it changes all the time depending on how much sleep i got the night before (reaction time) not bad for a v6...i have some kick *** accelleration tho

Reaction time doens't do jack to change your ET's or your trap speeds. The clock starts when you trip the light and stops when you get to the end. Think of a better excuse next time. Half a second, maybe... but if you're loosing 2 seconds depending on your driving, there's really somethign wrong, or the track you race at hasn't got their equipment setup properly.
drive typically is good for 2 tenths in my formula... don't know how much difference it would make, if any, in a 2.8 or 3.1... Some people say its best to manually shift the auto, but personally I just choose a gear and roll with it. Manually shifting my auto cost me 3 tenths...

Actually, line pressure (fluid pressure) in the 700r4 doesn't change between D and OD. It's a common thought that by putting the stick in D, you get firmer shifts... but the line pressure stays the same. However, when the stick is in 1st or 2nd, line pressure is almost DOUBLE! (Double, as opposed to, when your trans is in 1st/2nd but your shifter is in D/OD.)
So in theory, if you don't want to manual shift, you could shift your trans like this:
At the tree, Shifter in 2nd.
When the trans completes the 1-2 shift, push the stick into D.
That would give you a firmer 1-2 shift, but the trans still decides when the 1-2 and 2-3 shiftpoints should be.

I think i put enough bs's in there so no one else has to put them in anymore . I cant even put my grin face because I put so many
:-)~
Heh , scroll up guys and look and see how many times people used bs in there responces , heh
When my dinky V-6 runs 14's, i'll sh*t a brick... im floating mid 17's... a flat 17 on a near empty tank... but dont underestimate a V-6... them 3:42 gears sure give that extra boost to beat an untouched 305 or any mudstain out there...
I could be mistaken, but it is my belief that the 60* V6 Thirdgens can easily be modded to go faster (w/better fuel economy) than many of the stock 305 V8s around (LG4s & L03s)....not to mention our insurance rates are better, and V6 cars are typically in better condition than the V8s!
I don't know about a 14sec V6 though....sounds like a lot more time, effort, and money than it would be worth!

I also have heard of a girl running 17.30 in an IROC 305 . But not all 305s are faster .
There use to be a guy near my house , he had a 92 RS 305 he had it modded , it ran mid 13s ... I saw him one day with 13.40 on the window , then later talked to him about it .
