160 therma
Im changing my thermastat , what do I need to buy ? I know I need a gasket , but what kinda sealent ? What should I use to scrap the old crapola off with ? Thanx guys
GM didn't use sealant, therefore you don't have to either.
If you only drive your car in warm weather the 160* will be fine, personally I don't go below 180* on my cars... 170* is about ideal, but they're more difficult to find. Also watch out on the tstat housing, the bolts like to seize and shear off.

Thanx Drew , Yeah , you should have heard how loud the right bolt squeeked when I was taking it out .Dad heard it it the house with the door shut ! I think I have a gasket that will work .For winter I will just throw the 180 in , but for the summer 160 b/c it gets soo hot down here !
Just keep in mind, its possible that if the computer doesn't see enough temperature in the engine, it may not enter closed loop. I haven't heard many people say they've had that problem, but its somethign to keep in mind.
Use a chisel or gasket scraper to remove the old gasket.
Also a new TB gasket is $.75
