Get your VIN number and either look in your cars owners manual, or run it thru the rpo decoder on the main page.

Welcome to the board! 82-89 V6's are 2.8. 90-92 V6's are 3.1.

The eighth digit (from the left) of the VIN number on the windshield is your engine code.

82-84 2.8 = 1 (LC1 option, carbureted)
85-89 2.8 = S (LB9 option, MPFI, MAF design)
90-92 3.1 = T (LH0 option, MPFI, SD design)

Sure no one swapped engines?
I have an 85 Firebird.
I installed a 95 3.4
Can't tell.
Did it to pass smog in CA & cheap engine rebuild.
I used alot of "old 2.8 parts".
