2.8 Block differences?...

Is there a difference in the blocks and pistons from a rear wheel drive (or 4 wheel drive) and a front wheel drive?

Just wondering if a front wheel drive block could be used in my S10 Blazer or 89 Firebird.

Thanks.

FWD 2.8/3.1's have the starter holes on the bank 1 side of the motor. RWD ones have the starter on the bank 2 side.

I think a machine shop could drill the proper holes for the starter, but who knows how much that would cost.

If you rally want the best of both, get the aluminum block from gm, weighs 40lbs less, has provisions for starters on both sides, and only costs 3 grand

Only 3 grand? Hey, I'll buy two. Did you guys see the newest Hot Rod mag? They're putting a crate Hemi into a new Dodge truck.

The crate Hemi is only $13,000 ! What a bargain! Man, where do some people get their $$ from?
