Wheels (Rims)

I was wondering if anyone can help me out.. Im getting some new rims for my 1988 transam.. right now it has the GTA rims on it.. I don't know very much about wheels as far as backspacing and offset and lug patterns.. Im using the tires I already have so im staying with the 16x8.. which is the right size I believe.. The rims im looking at come in 16x7 & 16x8 with differnt lug patterns to choose from i think mine should be the 5x4.75 but not sure. But as far as the backspacing and offset im lost.. They come in the following.
1) 4.5" backspacing 0mm offset
2) 5" backspacing 12mm offset
3) 5.5" backspacing 25mm offset

Are any of these correct.. Any help would be appreciated a lot.. And if anyone feels like explaning the whole backspacing and offset thing that would be nice too.. And if any of these are right are they going to sit differntly than mine do now.. I have (FRONT) GTA rims all the way around... I know I know the front ones don't go on the back, I didn't do it, I bought it that way... Thank you everyone..........

Car: 1984 Z28
Engine: SLOW carbed ls
Transmission: TH400 with brake, 8" PTC converter
Axle/Gears: moser 9" 4.11
well you'll want 16x8 all around.

What you are looking for is 4.5BS which is exactly the way they came from the factory. 4.5BS means that the rims bolt up to the axles, or spindles at 4.5 inches of rim behind them....

sooo a rim with 4.5BS will have 4.5 inches of rim INSIDE where the lugs bolt too. The offset term is more used for import cars than RWD cars usually.

thanks

Thank you very much for the info.. But on the offeset, the gta rims have a 16mm offset.. So some RWD's have offset... Thanks again...
