They are awesome looking though!Pulled the wheels last knight to check for any rubbing and to
re-torque the adapters.
All adapters tighned a little more, and no rubbing at all.
here's a few pics I took, the Wheel well ones don't show much,
but I had to Heat with a tourch and with a bid hammer square
off the wheel well about 3/4 inch inward.

well i dont know what to say . I know that the front sticks out bc of that offset. I know you can either run 5.5 or 5.25 bs on the front with 9.5 inch rims. I think i need an expert on this matter. Now im getting confused.
If you only ran a 1.25" spacer out back that would mean that you have a effective backspacing of 6.68". Is it possible that they sent you a set of 17x11's with 36.5mm offset (7.397")? With a 1.25" spacer, this would make your backspacing 6.147", which seems more like what everyone is running. I mean if you can fit 6.68" and keep them tucked in like that, that is awesome. I have ran as much a 6.75" of backspacing (wheel and tire together) with the same fenderwell mods as you, with no rubbing, so I guess it is possible. I am thinking of black zr1's on my black IROC...what do you think?

o **** i just had a revalation and figured it out. 2inch spacers in the front will bring that bs to 5.4 and then the back is like a 1.25 spacer, but then wont that be like 6 3/4 , what the hell , i dont know , i though i knew it but now im confused again. Dammit i want a set of 11 inch rims. I will figure this out b4 then car gets back on the road.

I really wanted the back wheels to be tucked under the Wheel well, So the 1.25in Adapter allowed me to do that, BUT I really
had to beat the ---- out of the wheel wells inner wall to get them
to fit.
Remember, Heat & work the metal slowly, do get in a hury,
there is some reinforced metal behind there and it just takes time
to move it out of the way.

I love the way your wheels look...not sure yet if I want to do the same with 4th gen wheels or go with custom Boyd "Tuned" wheels. Either way, my car will have 315's in the rear (already have the tires

Louis.... that thing looks absolutely killer! I can't wait to get me 17x11's for my GTA. I might go 17x12 with a 335 tires instead and get most of it UNDER the car
Its gonna require a little surgery but the look willbe worth it... especially when you see what wheels I want to run

Holy Crap!! :hail: :hail: Thats awesome!! Bout' as close as you can get to tubbin' out the rear and it looks just as intimidating! I bet if you launch enough times with those things your rear-end will tear right out of the back of your car, I bet those things hug the road like no tmo! How much of a difference do you feel just driving around on those things? I was contemplating going 10" in the rear of mine, but that changed perdy quickly...

I stood on the happy pedal a little yesterday, not to much because I need to re-torque the adapters,
all I can say is Holy ----.
Dam, now I have to get my pilots license, this thing Launches.
Yes the thing handles incredibly awesome, I would never had
thought that tires could make that much difference.
It feels like a completely different suspension now.

Out of curiosity.... Looking at it from the rear, the tires (while underneath the lips) are out a good distance farther than the back of the panel, and the body. Arent you afraid youre going to mangle the paint back there kicking up rocks and crap from the pavement?
I know i have trouble with that with NORMAL width tires...

Do you really need the water methanol injection?
P.S. Isn't amazing how much a tire can change your cars behavior.

ooops,
I needed to update my sig.
just did .
Anyways I run 100% Methanol injection using a PAC controller
that adjust's the pump speed per psi of boost.
It's more of an gasses intercooler, and I found additional power with it in use.

Ennis Motorplex so many cars I could only run 2 times,
My best was a 14.3 @ 99mph.
The 4X4 Supercharged Suburban has never run at the track,
but it's faster than the Buick, at least 0-70mph.

You really can't see the tires sticking out any from the front
because they don't, the front and rear are almost completely
equal looking strait down the car as seen in this pic:

But here's a pic from an angle:

But there are differant ZR1 17X11 Type wheels some have 36mm off-set,some 50mm off-set, and some with 56mm off-set.

yup found my issue... 36mm offset... rats...
talkin to andris skulte, he sells/makes the bolt on spacers, and the smallest he feels he can go is 3/4, which is going to be too much... 1/2" ideal, 5/8's if i have to and deal with a little bit stickin out...
measured from the ground to the base of the wheel center, almost 8" (includes tire buldge)... explains why things dont make sense!

Okay I'm bumping up this old topic.
I got a couple of questions.
For one, what offset is used in the 17x11 rear wheel?
And all that's needed basically is to pound in the rear fenderwell? And roll the fender lip as well (or only for front?)
I really plan on doing this now. I want 17's, I like the wide tire look, and since my dad built drag engines for 30+ years before retiring, I have the hookup and can get a very very nice blown 350 setup for about 4000$. So I will need this much rubber hehe.
Anyone know?
But I'm going all show and no go first I guess hehe, doing the body work, then the paint, then the wheels, then lower it, and then the motor (with sfc's, stb, lca etc while it's being built, so it's ready)
thanks for any help

on my car, i am running 36mm offset rear 11"wide tire - i am using an aluminum 1/2" spacer behind it.
I have a serious feeling that the distance between the fenderwells on the firebirds vs the camaro's is less on the firebirds as compared to the camaro's...
anyways, that half inch spacing gives me a pretty much flush fit... didnt have to do any fender lip rolling tho...

thought i would toss up a pic of my car with the 17x11's/17x9.5's on it
BTW, no lip rolling, has hotchkis springs and tokico 5ways
2" spacer in the front, 50mm offset, .5" spacer, arp wheel studs, and 36mm offset wheels in the back.
the rear wheels are just inside the outside of the fender, with 315's instead of the 335's that are on there right now, they will instead of being about an 1/8th inch in from the edge of the body, they will sit about a 1/4-3/8" in... some of the pics really make it look like they stick out, but they are just inside... can't see the tire pokin the cover out when its under the cover
just a cool pic lol
maybe after i clean it up later i'll try to take a few pics of down the sides to show how it looks from that angle, like how the guyw ith the white iroc did

fb305svs, beautiful car and sharp wheels...with the height of your vehicle it wouldn't be a problem but they are no where near inside the fender if you were to complete full suspension travel or put a heavy load in your car you would rub.
