going from 15" to 16" factory rims...probs?

I tried searching but did not turn up much. I was wonderig if there are problems when going from 15" to 16" factory rims on a car that never came with 16's? Will 245/50/16's fit fine in the front and not rub?

I thought i remember hearing at one time something about the stop on the control arm being different so the wheels don't rub....is that true?

And have any of you guys done this on a V6 car.....with the heavier wheels/tires did it noticeably affect performance given the extra rotating mass and weaker engine? (i read that somewhere and was just curious if there is any noticeable impact).

thanks.

No real issues. Yes there was a stopper difference. But I put 245-50-16 (a stock tire size) on a set of GTA mesh 16x8s on my TA which was an orig 15x7 car. There was a slight rub on the inner fender well up front just above the sway bar curve. But only on a hard lock turn and not enough to warrant danger. I have since put on Ronal Firehawk R15 17x9.5s with a 275-40-17 and have no issues with that either.

I just swapped out the original 15" rims for 16" IROC rims with 245's on all four. NO rub or issue. Fits like a glove.

Just make sure you get a matched set of 16" (i.e. 2 rears and 2 fronts). It's stamped on the rim. They use different offsets.
