Largest sizer for 14" Rally rim

Just woundering. I will haft to replace my front tires soon and my rears are around 6/32nd left. I was woundering what is the largest size tire i can throw on the 14" Rally Rim that my car has. It has 225's on the front now and 235's on the rear now. Just want to see if anyone has been able to get away with anything larger for better traction and performance. Thanks. . .

Your 2.8L is giving you traction problems? Huh, that's a new one...

How wide are the rally wheels? I thought it was only 6", but it might be 7"? Either way, 235's are plenty wide for that, you won't gain anything by going to a wider tire, it'll just wear funny, and give terrible cornering.

Yeah well its not exactly performance problems. Just looking for a better wider stance in the rear. The rear tires actually wear perfect the way they are. Its the fronts that like to wear like garbage. Their a 7" wide rim. Im not concerned about the front because i know 225 is probably the perfect size for that. But i was lookin to go to 245 and just stay at that from here on out. So you think a 245 would fit?

Re: Largest sizer for 14" Rally rim

The 14 and 15 inch rims do best with 235/60 sizes and the 16X8 rims do best with 245/50s. Anything wider than that starts to "float" around. If you want to put 245s on your smaller wheels, you should get some used tires and see what I mean before you buy new tires and then are disappointed.

Many of us here have already done this. Trust us. 235s for small rims or 245s for 16 inch rims all around and you will be happy!

Alright thanks for the info. Will stay with the 235's. Anyone put 235's on the front? wounder if i would deal with any tire rubbing. because if it'll fit, then i'll be able to rotate the dag gone things.

235s fit fine in the front. I only had a "slight" rub when diving hard into some corners at high speed or trying to turn with the wheels locked in a tight circle in a parking lot.

No rubbing for me in daily driving.
