Tire question
Right now I am having some work done on my 89 Trans Am. I am overseas and cant do it myself right now, but need to have the car up and running when I hit the ground this summer. I have read a LOT of the stuff about this in these forums, but a lot of it is over my head and without my car I cant go out and look and have it make sense.
One of the things I want to do is get new tires/wheels.
I anticipate going with a staggered setup 17x9.5/17x11 if possible. Otherwise I will have to go with the 17x9.5s all around.
My question is what size tires I should or could put on these rims (esp. the 11s)? I dont want rubbing issues, or to have to do bodywork to make it fit. 315s would be perfect, but I am reading mixed reviews on this board about going that size.
I am changing out my rear end from 2.73 to 3.42 so I know this changes the speedometer. I also know that going with a bigger tire will help correct this. I read somewhere that doing a 27in tire will be just about right to bring it in line.
Thank you for any help you guys/gals may have to offer.

Re: Tire question
Bump
To add to my question above, I would like to ask the additional questions.
I am playing with the rims-n-tires site and note that with an 11in wide wheel a 305/35/17 would be the same exact height as the current 205/65/15s that are on there now.
Similarly, on a 9in wide wheel a 265/40/17 I would end up with the same height as the current wheel/tire set up.
Width wise though would this create any other issues, provided I use the proper backspacing and spacers?
Thanks for ANY and ALL help or suggestions.
And if someone has other ideas on what would be better please let me know!!
Thank you!!!
