What 17 inch wheels(factory take off or otherwise) fit our cars? I need to put regular hard tires on my car for a race coming up and I have some 17" proxies, but I need to find some rims.

 

17" isn't what you need to consider. Overall tire diameter & the backspacing of the wheel is. And the backspacing wil be determined by how the car sits at ride height, how much BFH work your willing to do, etc.

 

I am looking for someone to post what 17" wheels they have on their 3rd gen. I am really looking for a take off that I can look for on craigslist or local trader. I think some of the 4th gen wheels were 17", but I would need spacers to run those wheels - I would prefer to not use a spacer.

To run 4th gen wheels, you'd need spacers all around, or a 4th gen rear out back & spacers up front. The 4th gen rear is a good thing, regardless of what wheel you have (as long as the bigger brakes fit in the wheel you choose).

 

If you want factory take off that are direct bolt ons you should look up thread on here a guy put BMW wheels on his car, they look pretty good, and they were direct bolt ons with not spacers, i think he had to use some sort of small adapter. IDK, look it up and see and read for you self, it may be an option for you.

 

Take it for what it's worth, if you need cheap racing wheels then you might want to look at these. You can't beat the price and if you don't mind that they are steel.. then they are right for you. All shown are 17x9 and will fit guarenteed! I run the very same soft 8 versions (black) on my 88 (all four corners) with no issues. Your pick of chrome, silver powder coated, or black powder coated. All are in the 5x4 3/4 bolt pattern (for our cars) and there are two different styles shown, soft 8 and widow D styles. Hope this helps point you in the right direction. If nothing else, the backspacing is correct for our cars, as I can verify.

factory 5, 6 and 7 series bmw wheels will fit on our cars i think, the 5 series have some really nice style btw
