Anybody ever used a alloy wheel repair specialist like such...

http://www.desmoineswheelrepair.com/index.html

This is a mobile repair unit. As I understand they have these throughout the US. I have some original 91 Z28 wheels that have some curb rash and gouges and need refinished. From what I know they say they do this onsite. I see others on the board have sent theirs in. I was thinking about starting with one wheel and seeing what it looks like to a company. Probably $125-150 per wheel.
Otherwise I can spend $200 per wheel for refurbished wheels. Any experience with this type of service?

Or you could look into replacing them with something like this:

It looks like it would be cheaper than having 4 of yours refinished at $150 per wheel and the same price at $125 per wheel.

No knowledge of that specific service, but generally they just machine the wheel down to good aluminum, of if there's a shark bite they fill in the damage with weld and then machine them down. The end product usually looks pretty good, if you know what good original wheels look like, the refinished wheels usually aren't the same.

I wonder what kind of shape the 3rd gen ranch wheels are in. It says they are polished and repainted. I would assume there is no road rash? I am not sure what to think of them. Maybe someone from third ranch could give me a better description. Is refinished considered the same as refurbished? Basically, I am looking for wheels that look new. Not just from 10 ft but up close.
