Tire size for 1982 Z
Tire size for 1982 Z
I have an '82 pace car with the factory wheels. The car came with 215/65/15's. Will 255/60/15's fit the wheel width and not have any clearance problems in the front? Will this mess up my speedo much? THANKS!!

I don't think those will fit the front without clearance issues. Those are too wide for the rim...technically speaking. I would go with a 235/60 15 myself, a little wider and about the same diameter.
You can use the 255 in the rear but will have to adjust the speedo gear about one or two teeth on the driven gear.

Re: Tire size for 1982 Z
The genuine '82 Z28 indy pace cars used Goodyear Eagle GT 245/60R15 tires on the stock Z28 15x7" wheels, but those cars were NOT lowered.
Re: Tire size for 1982 Z
I assume you are talking about the actual Pace Car(s), not the ones sold to the public? The commerative edition cars (like mine) came with 215/65/15 Eagle GT's, OWL. The don't make them any more and I need ONE really bad. One of my originals must have separated a belt or something........

Exactly. Only the 2 Z28s that actually got the aluminum-block 350 engines for leading the pack.
