Help with Tire Choice!!!
Going to swap my original Eagle GT tires and wheels for a set of drivers.
The original tires are now 29 years old - so it might not be a good idea to drive them.
I now have another set of wheels ready for tires...
the first option is the Eagle GTII
However - the Eagle GT2's have now been discontinued - but are still available from a few sources - but since they are discontinued - I wonder how old the current stock really is?
The other (still current) Choice is the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500.
seems appropriate for my 82 Indy Pace car.
but might be over the top silly.
WHAT DO YOU GUY'S THINK?
thanks 3rd Gen
PS - My car is currently on display at the Miami International Auto show.
EDIT...
OOPS - never mind. Tire rack just confirmed their tires were manufactured in July 2010.
so I bought a set of the Eagle GT2's - seemed closest to original.

Re: Help with Tire Choice!!!
pacecarjeff-
I too am in a tire predicament....I have a 1984 Z28 with 26yr old Eagle GT's that need to be replaced....I am wanting to get tires with raised white lettering, but the only options I've seen are BF Goodrich T/A or Firehawk INDY 500. Reviews online say Firehawks will be quieter and smoother ride, but I like the looks of the BF Goodrich better.
Are the Goodyear Eagles still around? Was it difficult to find yours?
Anyone else with any feedback from experience on either the Firehawks or BF Goodrich's let me know...Thanks

Re: Help with Tire Choice!!!
What size did you get....looks like 215/65 r15 not available. What would be the next closest size? (Trying to keep mine as close to original as I can)
Thanks

Re: Help with Tire Choice!!!
looks like I got the last set then - cause I got 215/65 r15
the next closest size would be 235/60 R15
compare sizes here ---> http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Program needs to use internet Explorer to function properly.

Re: Help with Tire Choice!!!
thanks so much for your help...I feel better about 235/60's...difference is negligible

Re: Help with Tire Choice!!!
Save the original Eagle GT's if there is any tread left - those tires are highly sought after.
The early Corvettes used the same size.
Edit:
Tires came today - guess I did order the 235/60 R15
