1992 Camaro Help

Today, I went to buy tires for my 92 Camaro RS. I want to take my front tires off (they're trash) and put the back tires (perfectly fine) to the front. The mechanic said that the tires I have are no longer available. The mechanic said that he can order tires that went onto the 92 Z28, that size is 245-50r 16. My question is will it fit and work for my car?

Thanks!

Re: 1992 Camaro Help

Your mechanic sounds a bit suspicious. The original equipment tire is a 215/65/16, those are still widely made. Unless your talking about a specific brand of tire not being available and not size, you may look to get tires somewhere else. Just my

Does the wider tire help with traction and stability for you?

Re: 1992 Camaro Help

Just look at the tire to see what size it is. 245 or 215. 245 was an option while 215 was stock.

The exact brand of tire may not be available, so your mechanic may be correct (if that is what he is referring to).

Go to tirerack.com to check pricing.
