First Timer's Rim Size Question
Hi guys, I've long read these forums and all the great info you're all able to supply to each other, but I guess it's time for me to get my feet wet with my first post. I've been struggling with a "what to do" situation with my rims for months. I have an 86 Berlinetta, black, 5.0, T-Tops. I fell in love with the look of American Racing chrome Iroc replicas as seen here.

They have these rims in a 16" size as well. My questions revolve around whether to go 16 or 18 (I don't want the rims to look stupidly huge on the car). My current stock rims are 14x7. I'm also hoping not to throw my speedo too much out of whack with over sized rims if I can help it. Most importantly, I don't want to find myself faced with issues like rubbing wheel wells when turning and things of that nature I've seen others post about. Would 16" and low profile tires be a good way to go, or would 18" and low profile still be alright? The suspension is still stock, it hasn't been lowered or modded at all. Although I might like to lower it somewhat at some point.
My apologies here, I didn't mean for this to be so lengthy, I've just got so many questions about how they would fit/look. And since this is a big cash commitment and not something I can easily do by trial and error, I'm hoping that you great guys here can maybe throw me some advice or ideas to help me tip the scale towards 16 or 18". Thanks so much in advance!

Re: First Timer's Rim Size Question
Here is my camaro with 16s 245/50 front and 255/50 rears.

Heres a bird with 18s

If you get bigger wheels it usually doesn't change your speedo unless you get thiker tires. If you get 18s a 40 or 45 series tire would keep you at the 26in tire height. 16s usually go with a 50 serie tire.
Your speedo wont be messed up if the height of the tires is the same.

Re: First Timer's Rim Size Question
18's look very good on these cars, but the tire cost jumps up considerably.
just keep the overall diameter around 25.7" and your speedo wont know the difference

Re: First Timer's Rim Size Question
my personal choice for ride comfort & road feel would be nothing larger than 16" . looks good , tire selection , tire cost , all point to 16" . just my thoughts , good luck .
