Hi everyone,
Deploying to Kuwait in a couple days, and since I'm not going to be able to work on cars I figure I'll have a couple renderings made to stare at while I'm gone. I have an '84 Camaro that will be switched to the 91-92 body style and I'd like some pictures to send to the designer for him to take bits and pieces from.
What I'd like is straight side shots and lots of information! Tire size, rim style and size, anything relevant to stance or looks. The info is important, if I see a tire/rim combo that looks to be sized perfectly I need to know tire height and profile!
You can't tell a 17 from an 18 without a tape measure or reading the tire. Go with a 17 or 18 though and stay away from 19 since it will be adding excess weight. 17 is the lightest and some people say its the best rim size for these cars, but it has a small window of allowable offset if you want wide fronts. 18 gives a little more wiggle room since it will be wide enough to avoid the tie rod end and have more strut clearance. Check out and search the wheel and tire board for good wheels to run. Pictures are there of every popular wheel on any color and year and model by now.
I appreciate the response, but disagree on not being able to tell the difference between 17 and 18 inch rims without a tape. I have already done a ton of searching on this site, and saved many pictures. However, often times people don't post tire size, rim brand/model, and don't have straight side shots. I don't believe the 18 to 19" rim weight difference is huge, I do know the tire selection for 18's is much better. I have seen a ton of pictures and I feel that 19's, with the right tire, look better. Tire and rim size is definitely an opinion type of deal, and I just feel 19's look great. Strut clearance isn't an issue since I am planning to build the entire chassis and won't be going with a strut setup.
Anywho, anyone here with 18 or 19 inch rims that wants to show off their ride? Got a side shot and some info? Post it up!!!
I have 19x10 wheels on all 4 corners of my 91. The front tires are 285/35/19 and the rears are 305/35/19. It's lowered with lowering springs, and will soon be lower with weight jacks. The car sticks to the road phenomenally. I don't have A side shot but here are some pictures.
And as far as 17 vs 18 vs 19. I'm sure if the car is a track car only you would be able to tell a difference, but on a street car I feel like it's negligible. I can't tell a difference between my 19" wheels and my 18" wheels. Either is night and day compared to the stock 16" wheels.

About how low is this Inch Wise ?
Say for example if my Camaro is not lowered and if I put on 18s or 19s
How much Inches would be ideal for me to Lower it Afterwards ?
i want to use Eibach Springs
buy eibach pro line springs,it will lower your car about 1 to 1.5 inches, you may need to address other issues that arise from lowering it like alignment ,control arm angle, tie rod bind etc.there are several individual threads on this topic, just use the search box on this forum.
18 x 10, 295/30/18’s x4 I’m by myself at the track and either driving it or getting ready to drive it, I don’t have a photo guy - .sorry for the crappy trailer pic lol

I was reading through the thread and there is lots of great info around wheel size and tire width etc.
I had a question about wheel load rating. I know that my 92 camaro tires have a load rating of 97 but my question is what load rating do the wheels need to have?
I’m looking at buying either a 19x8.5in with a +35mm offset or an 18x8in also with a +35mm offset. The 19 has a load rating of 1521lb and the 18 has 1587lb. I’ve seen camaro wheels have ratings anywhere from 1600-2400lb depending on where I look. Does anyone know if I can safely go with the 18 or 19 I’m looking at?
Sorry if this has been answered already somewhere else.
Hi; the load rating you need to start with is what it came from the factory with, and you shouldn’t go below that. And if it came with 15’s or 16’s, that will change the load and speed rating
the door jamb sticker should have that info.
I checked the door. It has tire info but not wheel info. The only other info I could find was the GVWR which is 4202lb and the GAWR which is 2150lb in the front and 2052lb in the back. If the max weight is 4202lb then a wheel rated at 1500lb or greater should easily cover it as that would allow for about 6000lb cumulatively. Am I right in this assumption?
I have another angle to think about, what if I am running a quick performance 9inch with a gen 4 housing. Would the c6 wheels fit without using an adapter?

completely depends on the "specific" flange to flange measurement and if you have an adjustable panhard to perfectly center the rear end....do the math with the rear end measurement and the backspacing measurements
