keystone klassics

I've got a set of unilug keystone klassics to put on my 87 camaro. I know they take a special washer for the lug nuts. What i need to know is if i need to use the offset washers or the centered washers for our bolt pattern.

Also, the rears are 15x10 with a backspace of 4" and an offset of -1.5625. Without any "hillbilly" or "joe dirt" comments, what's the widest street tire that I can squeeze back there. I can do some light cutting and massaging if needed.

Here is a shot of my car with the wheels, someone had previously put tires on the rear that are way too narrow.

thanks!

Re: keystone klassics

not sure what you are getting about with the lug nuts.

as for the wheels, they will stick out big time, so no hammering needed, the only place them will hit will be the quarter panel openings, and there is little you can do about that except buy wheels that fit the car..... your BS and offset numbers dont jive though, there is an extra .0625 in there that shouldn't be.

a tire with a stock height would be best, since they usually wont hit the wheel opening before the car hits the bump stops. anything taller than 25.7-26" will hit the sheetmetal before the axle hits the bump stops.

Re: keystone klassics

bs is definetly 4" even, but my inner flange to outer flange measures 10 and 1/8 inches. For the proper offset it's 1/2 of center line subtracted from the backspace which gave me -1.0625. The lug nuts are mag style, but keystone wheels require a special washer because the rim holes are oval instead of round.

Do you figure a 295/50/15 would be pushing it? Shows overall height to be 26.61 inches.

Re: keystone klassics

I bet the 295s would rub, unless you space the bump-stops with extra-long bolts. But a 295 is the only thing I'd put on a 10. 275/50s are getting impossible to find, except as drag radials.
I understand about those oval washers, I have them on my pickup. No clue what my wheels are, but with the offset washers, they work for either 5 on 5, or 5 on 4.5", depending on which way you turn them.
I need a set of centered washers, but had no luck finding any. Please post up your source.

Re: keystone klassics

How often do the bump stops contact? I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable modifying them. But for your help, here are your washers ronnjonn. Thanks!

center drill http://www.tulipcitywheels.com/tcwst...-c777-760.html

offset drill http://www.tulipcitywheels.com/tcwst...-c778-761.html

Jeggs, summit, and lugnutking all carry the nuts and washers in a full set, you're looking at about $45.00 for 20.

Re: keystone klassics

What about running a 265/50/15? Shows the section width would still be more than 10", would that still fit the rim decent?

Re: keystone klassics

can you people read? the wheels have 4" of bs, they will be NO WHERE NEAR the bump stops.

FWIW, if the wheel measures 10 1/8 overall width, they are ~9" wheels, not 10". the advertised width is measured about the inside of the bead seat area. so a stock 3rd gen 16x8 actually measures 9" wide overall, the 15x7's measure 8".

from that picture of your car, the 295's will be prety close to the sheetmetal, but good shocks will help that issue and you "can" pack the bump stop down a little to make it hit the axle before the tires hit the sheetmetal, just make sure there is still some room for regular movement of the axle while you drive. you may have to raise the back of the car to make this space.

a 275/50 may be a decent size for you, they are 26.1" tall and 11.3 wide and are reccomended for up to a 9.5 rim. i cant find anything in a 265/50?

Re: keystone klassics

Hankook has the Ventus H101 that is available in a 265/50 for a good price, I work at a sears auto center, I've seen some good tires come from hankook.

From bead seat to bead seat the wheels measure 10", I'm sorry for the bad info up top, the wheels from lip to lip are 11 and 1/8". The wheels are stamped "15x10 (illegible garble) 73". I know the wheels clear the inner well with no problem, it was just concerned about fender contact. The info on overall diameter solved my problem, now I just need to know which tire width fits best on the wheel, and what I need to check//do o verify and adjust the bump stop travel.

Thanks for the info guys!

Re: keystone klassics

Draco, thank you for the links.
What I meant about spacing the bump stops was to do it in such a way that the center of the axle could no longer get within 13.5" of the fender, vertically, so that, in theory, no 27" tire could ever rub, no matter the width or backspacing.
I remember the days of seeing 265/50s squeezed onto 7s, but while 265s are still listed, good luck actually getting them. If you succeed, I may order a pair. But while the May-June issue of Summit's catalog has 265s listed, go online, they're discontinued.
Same on my favorite websites for tires.
I remember BFG discontinued the 275/50R15 because they weren't selling well, but they were like $130 each, like 5 years ago. Which is why they weren't selling, which is why the price climbed so high. Vicious cycle. I liked the look of those on 10s.

Re: keystone klassics

Looks like my main option is going to be a 295/50. I'll look into the bump stops tomorrow.
