I have an 85 TA, F2 procharger, gearvendor that made 1005 RWHP. I run it on hot rod drag week. At the track I run skinnies on the front and a 28x10 on the back or a 295/55/15 DR. My question is about my street set up. On the back I run 295/45/17 that fit the way I want. In front I currently run 255/45/17. I had to raise front a bit to get more weight in back. Anyone have a pic with a 255/50/17? Trying to decide to keep my size or fill some gap. Thanks

A 255/50R17 is 27"-27.1". So are the 205/75R15s that are temporarily on the front of my '84 T/A. These are on steel 6" wheels from a base-model '81 Firebird. My T/A is a WS6, on stock front springs that really aren't sagging, but I have an awfully heavy engine in there, so it looks lowered. With my fronts turned full-lock, there isn't much clearance between the tire and the front of the wheel-housing. As such, I think you'd have to do some cutting. Maybe with a 225/55R17 you could get by with just some hammering. Those will go fine on an 8"-wide wheel, though most here will say otherwise. I have a friend with 235/55s on 9s, I can tell you from my own experience driving that car, those drive very well, under ALL conditions.

 

Also, there's a black IROC on here with 245/40R19s on the front, and lowered, those are 26.7", where most 245/50R16s and 275/40R17s are 25.7", so that's the guy to ask about clearance.
