What tires to get?
I need new tires for my Camaro IROCZ. I want a good summer only tire thats good for the drag strip as well. Any suggestions? And how big can I go on stock rim?

The largest you CAN go on the stock rims is a 285. The largest you SHOULD go is a 255, but might as well just stick with the 245/45/16's and get a NICE tire. The Hankook Ventus V12's are highly rated and I've enjoyed them immensely when I have driven on them, although I do not know if they are made in our cars' stock sizes. BF Goodrich Super Sport G Force's are also excellent from what I hear and are made in the stock sizes for our cars.

I used to DD on Nitto 555R... worked great at the track too if you lower the PSI and do a good burnout.

There are a few DR options in 245-50-16, but you will wear them out quickly in a DD and they will be treacherous in the rain.
I can recommend the BFG G-Force Sports in 245-50-16 as a great summer tire with decent straight line grip - but honestly that is your only real summer tire choice in that size. You can go 225-55-16, the same diameter as the 245-50-16, but a tiny bit narrower. That size has about 20 summer tire options to choose from these days.

I had no issues with mine in the rain, but I didn't drive like a mad man... I DD mine year round for 3+ years... Went through 2 sets of rear tires, but I have a heavy foot and made over 100+ passes... If they are for the summer only, I would recommend the 555R's.
