Best cleaner and polisher for polished aluminum?

I have a set of American Racing Torq Thrust II's that are polished aluminum. I know that most cleaners will hurt the finish. Is there any cleaner that wont but still cuts brake dust? Whats the best polisher? I am currently using mothers.

Thanks
Ryan

Re: Best cleaner and polisher for polished aluminum?

For a general cleaner I use a product (I believe made by mcguire's) called "Hot Rims". They make a type for coated and uncoated polished aluminum wheels. It works well to cut through and leave them shining when I wash the car.

For polishing I recommend a product called "Nevr Dull." It's simply a polishing compound/cloth like material that comes in a metal can. Best shine I've seen on any wheel. Does not hurt the finish and will take out salt spots/brake dust build up/etc.

I sell detailing products from Chemical Guys and Griot's Garage, and can offer some advice.

First, you want a wheel cleaner that is not abrasive, containing any acid or even caustic (both will etch or stain your wheels), and also have a couple of super soft brushes to agitate the dust off.

Second, you can get different types of wheel sealers or metal waxes to cut down on brake dust and also make them easier to clean. You apply it as directed after you get your wheels squeaky clean and it should last a few washes per application.

I recommend this one: http://www.chemicalguys.com/Vintage_...spi_404_16.htm

if the wheels are clear coated, which torque thrust are new, a metal polish won't work as intended. It's meant for bare aluminum. If there rag doesn't get black, you're rubbing metal polish on a coated surface. If thats the case, no need to polish them. Just clean and wax them.
