Wheel Spacers, do I really need them?
Wheel Spacers, do I really need them?
I have a 92 RS, TBI, 305, W/T5. Just finishing up a restoration and realized the tires and wheels may not be stock. The original GM body label calls for 235/55R15 and mine has 245/50R16 with Camaro wheels (See attached picture). It also has a spacer on both the rear between the rear wheel and rear brake hub.
Can anyone tell me if the spacers are needed? I'm not looking for any offset and there is ample room between the suspension and the tires when it's all together. I don't see the point...
Anyone...
Thanks,
Ron

I think it was a combination of things, keeps the wheels from corroding to the iron/steel brake drum and they do move the wheels out a bit. It helps handling a small amount.
If you put a touch of anti-seize on the drum or wheel you'll be fine.
Take em off or leave them on, your choice.

Where can I get some of these spacers? I used to have 15x8 rims on the back of my trans am and miss the little wider look. Like I said Ron......I'll take them off your hands...lol.
