Stock size

What is the stock tire size on a 86 trans am ws6? Since I have had the car it has had 245/60/16, and no tire place said anything. But recently I called discount tire for new tires and they said 215s with max size 15 inch, but then on a specs page it says 225 is the stock size. If anyone knows for sure can you fill me in? My wheels are stock, and my tires don't rub

Re: Stock size

245/50/16 for 86 WS6

215's and 225's 15's were also available for non WS6

Re: Stock size

Stick 16" size is 245-50-16, stock 15" size is either 215-65-15 or 235-60-15.

You seem confused about the wheel size? I have never seen a 245-60-16 car tire.

Thanks for catching that paul, I just copied and pasted what he said as in the 245/60 instead of changing it to "50".
Lazy me....

Re: Stock size

Discount has been wrong for me, even for my work van. They insisted the stock tire size wasn't load-rated high enough, even though each one is rated to more than half what my rear axle is rated for. Of all the online sources to distrust, Discount is THE worst.
