GM Wheel Locks 12497478

I lost my key for the wheel locks mentioned in the title. I ordered what I assumed was an identical package off ebay for cheap, same 12497478 package, but the key is slotted slightly different than the wheel locks on my car.

My main question is, does anyone know if there are different "coded" keys under that same part number? I have the original package with my wheel locks that came with the car when I bought it, and it's identical to the package I just got off eBay.

Unfortunately these wheel locks aren't the type where I can jam a 12 point socket onto, since the wheel lock has an outer hub that prevents a socket from being inserted to grab the teeth.

There's different patterns.Otherwise i'd be too easy to take each others locks/wheels off.Sorta defeats the purpose of having locks in the first place.

Not sure how any patterns they make, but getting the exact same one is a crap shoot. You should be able to get replacement keys from the manufacturer.

I had to do this a few years back, luckily found a manufacturer card in the spare tire area with a phone number to call and nut code.. they still have boxes of replacements.. Worst case is you'll have to split the nuts,, also I saw a youtube video of some people having success with a socket pounded on, forget what size is was, but a search with find it.. lot's of people lose this piece.. sorry just read you can't do the socket,, my bad...

Some tire stores can remove them too, but itll destroy the lock.

Happened to me also. Get a 12 spline 19mm socket. Hammer it in as hard as you can. Try to deform also the outer threat that is used for the plastic covers. Get someone to push on the breaker bar to ensure it doesn't slip while turning to loosen the nut.

Worked perfectly for me. And managed to use the same socket for all 4 wheels and the socket is still intact!!
