Do I need spacers for Iroc RIms?
Do I need spacers for Iroc RIms?
I have Iroc rims on my 87 sport coupe since 2008. NO spacers...everything seems fine. I am now going to put on factory size tires 245/50r16...do I need spacers for the back? I do not have them and had never encountered a problem. SOme people say you don't need them ? TrUE or FALSE?
thanks!
thanks!
Re: Do I need spacers for Iroc RIms?
No, those .187 thick spacers are not required. They were first installed to cover a Engr. Dept, error and when the original stock was used they were discontinued.
Re: Do I need spacers for Iroc RIms?
Not sure I can buy that explanation. The spacers were used on any iron drum brake rear with 16" wheels up through the end of 92.
They aren't really necessary, but if I had them laying around I'd probably run them.

The Engineering error was the .187 difference between the aluminum and iron drum brakes. So the use of the useless spacer.

Re: Do I need spacers for Iroc RIms?
THANK YOU! For you help!
I've had them on my Sport Coupe and never had a problem since 2008 with 215/60r16. Now I'm changing to 245/50r16 and I wanted to make sure there would be no issues with the rims and tires rubbing anywhere. Your thoughts of 245/50r16 on a sport coupe, should be no rubbing eh? I did have 235/60r15 long ago on z28 rims and they never rubbed.
