Tires sizes for Y2K's.

Hey everyone. I've gone through the entire corvette wheels thread from start to Finnish, and I am sorry if this has been covered and I've missed it...but I've got a set of staggered corvette Y2k wheels. 17x8.5 fronts and 18x9.5 rears.

I'll be doing a 4 gen rear from an 01 z28 this winter and my understanding is that I won't need an adapter for the rears but the fronts I will need a 2-2.25" adapter.

That being said, I would like to know what the biggest tire I can run on these wheels would be without issues, being that the car has been lowered about 1.75" all around.

I was thinking of doing a 255/40/17 in the front and a 295/35/18 in the rears. am I correct in assuming that there may be slight rubbing in the front on full lock and that I may have to do some cleaning in the rear to accomodate these tire sizes?

Thanks in advance, and if this has been answered I must have missed it and I apologize!

The tires you listed wont rub in the front. The rears you will need to clearence the front area of the wheel wells. Some cars need more some need less. You will just have to check with your new axle and tires. A mini sledge hammer works well to make the adjustments.

I took the stock 5 spoke off my 2001 corvette and put them on my 88 iroc for a bit. They were 17x8.5, 2.25 adapter, and stock goodyear 245/45/17 up front, and 18x9.5, 2.00 adapter, stock 88 rear, stock goodyear 275/40/18 rears. I have weight jacks to level off the car and never had a problem with rubbing front or rear.

The 295 rears will rub the 275's clear with no issues

245-45-17 up front (could go 255-45-17) and 275-35-18 in the rear (could go 275-40-18).
