'89 Trans Am project car: work in progress

Description:
When I bought it, it needed everything. Literally. It still does. I'm slowly rebuilding it bit by bit from the empty and beat up shell I received, into a whole functioning car again. With serious go-power (eventually, LOL). Here are some progress pictures.

Temporary 305 TPI engine (incomplete) installed. Ready to be towed home! Still needs everything else to make it run, though.

305 engine ready for install! This is the temporary engine that will just get the car running (while I build a more powerful 400 c.i. SB Chevy V8 on the side for later install). I still need everything else to make this engine actually start, all I have right now is the clutch and flywheel.

Car is home, but no engine purchased yet.

Whole front bumper looks like this. Full of chips that flake off a little more with each day. And somebody's aftermarket fogs.

The pic in the Craigslist ad. No engine, just a T5 tranny. No hood shocks, either, just a stick to prop it up with. O_o

(Hood shocks were purchaced shortly after bringing the car home)

Yup, and there's more where that came from.... car is full of moss and green stuff that just doesn't come off. Not worried, I need to repaint anyway.

It came with the wheels I wanted to put on it anyway. Cool, eh? :-) Though for some reason the front ones rub on the brake calipers. Don't know why yet.

Lots of oxidation all over the car. Somebody has recently repainted the front half of the car (poorly..orange peel and chipping paint abounds), but everything from the doors back is original paint...thus is is oxidized and peeling everywhere.

Many more scratches and dents can be found. Gotta pound out what I can, and either leave the rest or Bondo them.

That stuff under the wing does not come off. At all. Wing is split in many places and the brackets are rusted away into billions of pieces. Thank god Hawk's Third Gen sells a fiberglass wing! I'm gonna need one.

Interior as it was when it came to me. Things missing, and holes drilled into panels.

My boyfriend's feet. He was wrestling with attaching the engine to the ill-fitting motor mount (somebody bent it). I didn't have the physical strength to do it myself.

Didn't like the stock steering wheel, so I replaced it with a Fiero wheel that we had laying around. Gotta find a Firebird center cap though, because right now it's got the Fiero logo, LOL.

After moving to our new house back in Sept 09, the car sat all winter while we fixed up our new house (fixer-upper in bad need of TLC). It finally stopped raining on July 6th, I kid you not. So now I can work on the car again. Pic taken after it's first bath since the move.

Side shot of the car after it's bath. Not sure why it's sitting so high, ground may be slightly inclined there. My '84 Tercel 4x4 wagon in the background (winter daily driver).
