LB9 speedo unit. The car checks out by the RPO codes and SPID as a true IROC-Z. It was a factory LB9, 2:73 positrac drum rear, 700R4 trans, Bright Red. Also cool is the emblems were in it, since the 1988-1990 style are pretty hard to replace. The interior needs a headliner, carpet, seat covers, console armrest, and dash pad, but is otherwise intact. It's in rough shape, but according to the RPO codes it's all there.

Pile O' Parts under the hatch. Most of this was from me disassembling the engine after I bought it, since the one it it had been left unprotected for 5 years and got filled with rain water. Thankfully it was an early 80's non-roller 305, so no big loss. The only thing missing from the engine was the smog pump (who cares) and heater valve diverter.

These rims came on the car, haven't been able to identify them. They are stamped US Wheel on the backs, but haven't found them anywhere online. The tires were brand new, still had nubs all over them! For some goofy reason they had the white lettering mounted to wards the inside though. Apparently the previous owner found curbs by braille as well...

The bottom end is assembled, and I installed an LT1 cam to try to boost the power and efficiency of the 305 a little. The heads are the 58cc LB9 heads, ported, polished and port matched to the TPI.

Just some of the rebuild parts for the project. I have everything to complete it, except time.

It had one of the hood louvers under the hatch, but the other was missing. I found a broken one in the junkyard and repaired it. Considering their replacement cost not bad. The TPI is going to get the same internal and external polishing as that on my Z/28.

Dusty, but a good cleaning brightened it right back up. I don't get to work on it much, but it's ready for the engine to go back in now.

The copper paint peeking behind the headlight bucket is the color I painted the engine compartment after stripping it bare. Problem now is I can't decide if I want to paint the car GM Atomic Orange, or paint it black with Atomic Orange rally stripes. Either way I think the engine compartment left as is will be striking.

Yes it's ugly. The car had been horribly Earl Shive'd at some point in white over the original Bright Red, and no care had been taken to mask off body seals. Most of it flakes off if you run your hand over it. The fender and hood are from the junkyard, hence the mismatch in color. I picked up the car for $300 with a clear title, and the only thing it was lacking was the hood. The last owner rear ended a truck, hence the missing hood, replacement fender, and cracked windshield.

The ground effects are removed by me for repair. Most of the issues with th body are on this side, mainly where the paint had flaked off and allowed surface rust to form. Thankfully none of it is cancerous.
