What's needed for a Buick 455 Swap?
I was wondering what would need to be changed if I swapped a Buick 455 for my 305? Is this a good swap and how difficult is it?

1. have you done a search yet?
2. there have been some posts about ponchos & caddies, read up on them.
3. biggest additional mod will be the tranny.

I saw such a 3rd gen at Bandimere last year. I didn't talk to the owner (wasn't around in the pit area when I looked at it), but he was running times about 2 tenths quicker than what I'm currently running with my 305.
Front engine mounts, exhaust can be added to the "special trouble" list. A tranny that bolts to the 455 probably won't have torque arm provisions.
It's almost one of those situations where you say, "If you have to ask, don't." But, you be the judge whether or not you want to tackle this.

all you have to do is take the 455, test fit it with the frame mounts on, mark where it sits the best, then just drill out the holes on the chassis, bolt in the frame mounts and install the engine! also your going to need a trans adapter plate if your going to use the chevy trans, but forget about it if its not a TCI or better built 700r4. the buick 455 is a powerhouse, dont forget a good set of frame ties, dont want to twist the car into a pretzel from the torque

Hey Five7kid I was just rereading your post in the Rockies forum and realized that your club clash is next Friday. I think I'm gonna try and make it up there. Whats it cost to get in?
