Ah, Anyone like Sport Comp Gauges?
Well, we got the Tach and Speedo mounted and I talked my friend into just ordering the rest of the gauges and run all Sport Comp ones.
Here are a few images of the cluster,

you guys ought to check out the new sportcomp play back tach. my dad was one of three to test this tach out,(we have autometer connections) and it is bad. it even has a feature where you can have the shift light come on to tell you when your stall speed has been reached for launching automatic cars. (that was my dad's idea) anyway, check it out!

do the sport comp gauges have their own lighting, or do you have to set up some kind of light yourself? i was thinking about using those same gauges.

the play back tach is already out for sale, however, i think that you have to call jegs/summit for the pricing. i saw the tach in the new 2003 autometer catalogs though. they come in black or silver face. they are really cool. i am going to redo all of my guages with sportscomps in my camaro and i will have this tach (with led shift light) in my car. oh yeah, they have their own lighting too, so you don't have to rig lighting up.

Wow, that looks really good. Do the gauges light up? My speedo is not working the greatest on my 82, so that might be something I want to consider. The only problem is if I ever want to go back to the orignal gauges, I would need a different cluster. What do they look like lit up?

The gauges have thier own lights, just have to wire them up to a 12v light source so that you can dim them. I am just going to wire them up to one of the stock wires that powered the stock lights.
I'll have pics of all the gauges installed as soon as UPS arrives.

Man that looks good. I really want to do it, but I don't have a dremel, or the skills to use one, or much money to spend. I would want to find a dash from a junkyard and cut that up, incase I wanted to go back to looking stock.
Oh, did you have to change from a mechnical speedo to an electric one? I think all cars with that speedometer came with mechanically driven ones.

Yep since I am doing the LT1 4L60E swap I had to switch to an electric speedo.. It all kindof snowballed from there..
Using the dremel isn't really all that hard, Zeph has an extension so I got to play dentist on my trim panel.. I must say that getting a panel from a boneyard would be the best option as I was expecting at any moment to make a fatal error.
this pic kindof shows the extent of the cutting..

anyone done the camaro dash yet? pics? i don't think that i will be able to do this as a result of the NMCA American Muscle Car class does not allow the removal of stock gauges. but that's ok, if i ever decide to run something different i will definetely look into getting these gauges. i am however getting the playback tach ang mounting it underneath the ac vents (i have a monster tach there now but i need to upgrade) and i will eventually buy some mechanical oil pressure and water temp gauges for the a-pillar.

In response to the title, I do now! Man i have to think that the firebirds got the better dash. Especially since the later 3rd gens got that damn bulky airbag wheel and it makes it kinda hard to see things like the speedo and fuel guage at times. Oh well, nice work.

Yes sport comps accept the VSS signal.. in fact the version I have installed you can adjust on the fly for any gear/tire ratio.. the main reason I ended up doing this is because of the engine tranny swap I am doing..
I will post more when it is in the car for now many thanks to karpsta and all the camaro guys with autometer gauges in your cars it was my motivation.

We drove it last night. Only problem we have now is the oil leak from the crank seal. Changed it and it still leaked so we must have done it wrong.
I say we hit the Dyno and see what numbers the setup is laying donw.
