Anyone weld a drain fitting on your differential cover?
I'm thinking of welding a fill and drain fitting onto my 9 bolt diff cover. Anyone do this? If so, what's it look like and what did you use?
Thanks.

No, to me that sounds like too much work... I usually drill & tap the housing for a 1/8" pipe plug, and use an Allen head plug so it's below the surface of the housing when installed & tightened (no road damage).

Thanks guys. The Moroso one is the one I want. I found it in Jeg's.
The rubber plug goes in to a big hole in the 9 bolt cover so this one ought to work fine. I don't really want a drain plug, I'd just pull the cover as usual. But for a fill/inspection port, this will work great. Plus, if the drain plug happened to drop out, you'd lose fluid. In this case you'd still have some in there.
Thanks..

Yes, it's where the rubber plug is. I just don't want to have to keep replacing plugs, tear one, etc. Unlike 10 bolt rearends, there's no fill plug on the side of the pumpkin.

You could always drill & tap one into the side of the housing as well... it's not rocket science. Just put it at the same horizontal level as the stock one. You can buy all the stuff (drill, tap, plug) for less than $10 at the hardware store.

Here's the "new" cover. I used the Moroso piece and I think it will be fine.
