Black chrome dual snorkel
Well it took 5 weeks but I finally got it back. It did not turn out as dark as I would have liked but it looks good.
The old chrome plated lid is next to the new unit.

Thanks Steve.....Go Vols!!!!!
Buzz..
Yep you can black chrome anything. It's also called black nickel. Anything that can be chrome plated can be black chrome plated. But it's about 3 times the price. The whole housing was @ $240.00 to do. Very pricey but very unique.
It might be cheaper other places but there are only about 2 places in all of Phoenix that can do it.

I really like this setup, but:
Where is the engine coolant? How do you drive it without overheating? Also, how did you modify all those EGR hoses to allow the duel snorkels to clear? I was thinking about putting on longer hoses and moving the assembaly down and back a bit. Any suggestions?

Looks like he moved the puke bottle to the other side of the engine compartment so the snorkel could be moved over to clear everything.

I dont think so Dimented. I can see (on the passenger side) where all the radiator hoses go and the black EGR box thing. I dont know what its called. But that setup is awsome

Not sure what you where origionally asking. Dont want to speak for Bill but it looks like the only modification needed was to move the coolant reserve tank to the other side to allow the snorkle to be moved over. Looks like that was enough to allow it to clear the AIR diverter solenoid and the A/C refrigerant lines. Also looks like the driver's side one was nudged over a bit as well...
BTW, that black chrome really looks sharp!

heh... now that you mention it its weird to see a fully dressed engine with all the smog equipment. Makes my 60's style engine compartment look downright empty.

That would be correct, no washer bottle. Fortunately it does not rain too much out here in PHX. Winshields don't get too dirty.
The cooland bottle I used is from an '86. Its a little smaller than the '92 bottle. I bolted it into the hole from the washer bottle. Hood still hits it but just a little. The over flow hose is routed behind the alternator and a/c compressor. I might change that and round it through the grill.
When I originally did this I was looking for a windshield washer bladder bag. I remeber those from some cars from the 80's but I was never able to find one. It will fit just about anywhere.
Maybe one day I get smart and come up with something to replace the washer bottle.

As far as fitting with all of the emmisions stuff, it is a very tight fit but it does fit. The passenger side snorkel rests on the diverter valve.
Some guys have bent their a/c hoses to make it fit but I get real nervous about that. No a/c here in AZ is not a fun thing.
I have also heard of some guys relocating their diverter valve. I thought about it but made it work the way it is. Sad part is I just put on some Edelbrock valve covers and you can barely see them. Oh well.

Im sure you all know this, but just in case; I went to the Chevy dealer and they said the air scoops are discontinued and that he said no chevy dealer in the US has one! So I guess I'm off to the junk yard again

I've actually seen stickers like that in the Chapman Chevrolet parts depot. by my house. Also, it isn't too terribly expensive to just have them custom made... I got the sticker on my windshield for a staggering 34 bucks...
