This is an E-mail I sent to them with their response. I never did call them bacause I am still putting money into the engine and can't afford the spoiler right now.
I sent this Jan 10, 2003
I have heard that you are no longer in business. Is this true? I need an aerowing spoiler, I contacted you a while back but I decided to do some engine work first instead of getting the spoiler at that time.
Thanks
Mike

I have heard that Hawk's will be selling spoilers and hoods like theirs but made by someone else pretty soon...I'd check with them. If they've had your $$$ for 5 months and you don't have a hood (FTC requires they notify you in writing once a month on backorders), I'd be doing a chargeback.

GT Auto Spoiler
I ordered my spoiler for my TTA from them in March (yes, a year ago). I have been trying ever since to get either my money back or the spoiler ever since. I have emailed several times and left numerous phone messages to "George" if that is indeed his real name. I tred to get my money back through PayPal but because the transaction was more than 30 days old (what rare car part order is not?) there was nothing they could do. I STRONGLY suggest not dealing with this company. Their responses to my inquiries have been classic BS stalling tactics. I am now out $400 and have no spoiler. Here are my emails and their responses:

Derrick,
After your last email I sent a check to you for the refund. I will check to see if it was cashed or not. If not do you want a refund or a wing. I can have one to you in a week. I am verry sorry about this transaction thing ushally go much smother then this one. We have been so swamped with orders for this wing and the hoods that I had been in the shop for 10 hrs a day and then trying to keep all the paper work in order also. We are just getting caught up on spoilers but the hoods are never going to be less then 4 weeks out. We have also moved our shop into a larger building and that through us off some also. If you would still like the wing please email me your new shipping address and I will send one out asap.
SORRY!!!.

then I guess that's why we have message boards huh? Apparently he makes

3rd-gen board and see if anyone there has had any problems.

George,
I do still need a spoiler. We have moved so the check you sent will take awhile to get to me. Please send the spoiler to:
(adress deleted)
Please do not rush the job if it means sacrificing quality of the part. I will hold the refund until I get the spoiler. Thank you for providing an update on the situation. I am not so upset about not getting the spoiler, just that you were not communicating what the situation was and did not respond to my inquiries. I have updated the TTA list on the situation. Thank you.

Hopefully someone will step up and make copies of their spoilers soon...the hoods (RAII for 3rd gen Firebird) are available through American Sportscar Design now, and will be through Hawks shortly. I'd like to have a 4th gen-style wing for my 87 TA, but I'm not going to buy it from GT Auto, seeing how they do business. I wonder if they'll be at any shows this year....they were at STARS (Pensacola), the Gathering (Atlanta), and the TA Nats (Dayton) last year. I somehow doubt it....

I believe LT1guy said it best. I am one that would also like an explaination why GT auto and "george" dissappeared for over 3 months with no explanation. (the website has yet to be updated for over a month now) I for one had tried to purchase a spoiler that fell through, luckily george never charged my account for the spoiler that was never sent. I would much rather go through other companies to get the same product just to avoid a hassle like many of us on here have put up with. We need some kind of explaination why and some kind of assurance as to that it is not going to happen again before many of us even think about trying again. But this is just my 2 cents, and my feelings on the matter. But I know there are several dissapointed/frustrated thirdgen owners out there about this such topic, me being one of them.

I would like to order one today, but can not get a call back. I left a voicemail at the "George" voicemail to no avail. I sent a page today with my call back number with no response? I found the same exact picture and wing at http://www.advancedplasticsmfg.com/r...rs_pontiac.htm
I am going to order from there.
There is nothing worse than poor customer service.

This is Todd with GT Fiberglass in response to some with questions. What happened to GT Auto? Why? GT Auto grew too big, too fast to keep up with demand. It was too big for one person to run all management positions. Production fell way behind. That is why some didn't receive their product for months. This is also why the website was no longer taking orders for some time. Vendors were told of the long delays to be expected. Unfortunately, some vendors never let their customers know. In addition, they moved. As anyone in a manufacturing business knows, after relocating it takes time to obtain full production again. I have recently become involved with production and management of GT Fiberglass. We are currently re-tooling many of our molds. Several are in production, some are still being finished. This is what has been happening. We are a small custom fiberglass production business. We hand lay all our products. While this may not be the fastest way to produce the product, it offers the best quality. I realize many have waited long periods of time to receive their product. Nothing was ever done maliciously or to scam anyone. To date, I am only aware of 1 (thats one) person that claims they have ordered and paid for a product they have never received. Our shipper claims they have a signed delivery statement showing that they indeed deliver this product. When they send me the signed statement, I will send it to that gentleman so we can resolve this problem. There was one other person that claims this problem, however I have not heard back from him.
LT1GUY,
I am the other guy that was with George at the Gathering last year. I am looking forward to hearing from these other "people" you mention that have paid and never received their product. You also mention other "issues" you appearently have that you do not want to mention in a public forum. I strongly encourage you to e-mail me at: gtfiberglass@yahoo.com with your other "issues".
Once again, we do have hundreds even thousands of very satisfied customers. We askanyone to compare our quality with other similar products out there.

Todd

LT1GUY,
Like I have previously posted. GT Auto fell way behind in production. We advised ALL vendors (including your friend Bruce with Hawks Thirdgen) not to take orders and to tell customers there products would be at least 6-10 weeks out. Because of their greed and not wanting to lose a sale, they chose not to tell their customers of the delay and to continue taking orders. It is our fault for the delays and we did make mistakes along the way. We apologize for this. We have NEVER taken a customers money without providing them with their product! If there is anyone out there with this claim call me.
Why are you speaking for Bruce? Does he know you are posting these replies for him? If so, I am extremely disappointed with him. Bruce can freely call me at: 239-810-2354 to discuss his "issues". You should really be careful what you say on these message boards. You seem to take what one person says (your friend Bruce in particular) and submit it as fact. Now that you bring up Bruce with Hawks and seem to want to push the issue I have a question for you! You seem to be Bruces best friend. Ask him why he still owes GT Auto over $14000? That is correct $14k. He has owed this for well over 6 months and outright refuses to pay. All of his orders have been filled for a long period of time. He claims there are a couple of invoices he is not sure of but hasn't sent us in writing or e-mail which invoices he is not sure of. Why not at least pay what he knows he owes? So, before you continue to bad mouth GT Auto for some higher reasoning, BE CAREFUL YOU ARE NOT THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK. I am now confident you will call your friend Bruce upon reading this. If your friend Bruce wishes to continue to talk, have him call me at: 239-810-2354. I am very much looking forward to his call!
Sincerely.
Todd

So, before you continue to bad mouth GT Auto for some higher reasoning, BE CAREFUL YOU ARE NOT THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK. I am now confident you will call your friend Bruce upon reading this. If your friend Bruce wishes to continue to talk, have him call me at: 239-810-2354. I am very much looking forward to his call!
Sincerely.
Todd
WOW! Pay as you go.........
Reminds me of a friend of mine who used to own a boat canvas business in Ocean City Md., a small beach town.
Seems he had a problem collecting from a number of people for services performed.
Low and behold, at the main bridge into town, a billboard appeared simply stating........
"Pay your Bills to have your name removed from this Sign."
the billboard them named all of the businesses in question.
Ironically, by the end of the month, all of the old accounts were mysteriously current.
hmmmmmmmm.

If you would expend half the effort you have typing your responses by PICKING UP THE PHONE AND CALLING HIM, instead of making an a$$ of yourself here, you could get it all straightened out. Heck, if you hadn't disappeared for months it would have been straightened out a long time ago. Bruce will call you...probably by the time you read this. Have you attempted to call him? I doubt it.
There are two sides to every story, but when one of them consistently gives reliable service, and the other gives nothing but excuses for their poor business practices, who do YOU trust?
Hi, This is Bruce with Hawks Third Gen Parts. Since my personal business information is not legally public information, but has unprofessionally been done so, I the owner of my company will simply state the facts. Fact #1, my company did business with George and GT Auto, Fact #2, GT AUTO was a middle man NOT the manufacturer, I have since been in contact with the manufacturer of the products GT Auto sold, Fact #3 I was told 4-6 weeks and no later than 8 weeks on the products to be shipped, and some of my customers can atest to there was 12-14 weeks at times that they did not receive their product. Fact #4 we never received any bills from GT Auto for almost 4 1/2 months and when we did receive it, we attempted to contact George on many occassions to discuss some of the bills that were in question. Ask George about the bills and how they were incomplete. You may also ask George how he received payment for the other invoices he sent us on a monthly basis. Also as with everyone else we also were not able to reach him for 3-4 months until we received the bill. I am not denying that payment is not due, and I am also not stating that I refuse to pay, I will however not send a payment until GEORGE, the one I did business with contacts me by phone. I have several emails from the middle of February where he refused to call me to discuss this matter. From this point forward this is an issue between George and myself and no one else.

So, if GT Auto doesn't manufacture the spoilers, then who does?
Maybe we can just order through them instead of paying the crazy markup they put on this product with hopefully better customer service. I can buy a high quality aftermarket 'glass hood for less than that spoiler costs.
I have been emailing a company in Ohio that does custom 'glass work. They make Caddillac hearse bodies, hoods, custome speaker boxes for Marshall type amps, etc. Maybe this can be a better quality and cheaper alternative.
GT Auto seems to be the only seller of this spoiler. The only other one I have seen is some company in Canada, but have heard from many people the quality is rather poor.
Figure how many Trans Am/GTA/Formula's that were made with this POS urethane thing that there is definitely a market for a better priced and quality product. I have seen super low mileage TTA's that have been carfully stored with warped spoilers!!

See my post earlier:
I would like to order one today, but can not get a call back. I left a voicemail at the "George" voicemail to no avail. I sent a page today with my call back number with no response? I found the same exact picture and wing at http://www.advancedplasticsmfg.com/...ers_pontiac.htm
I am going to order from there.
There is nothing worse than poor customer service.
Mark
Mine shipped yesterday and they matched GT Auto's $440.00 to my zip code.
fyi,
Mark

Very interesting post gentlemen. I would suggest that personal business be left to personal email, not a public forum. Suffice to say that GT Fiberglass is taking over for GT Auto. Let the buyer beware until GT Fiberglass proves to be legit.
Thanx for coming on board to get some explanation out. on what is going on...

LP1GUY
I agree.. This is not the forum for some that has been said. However, if LP1guy did not push the issue and continue to make it obvious how much he thinks he knows about this matter (which he is being spoon fed from Bruce at Hawks) I would have never mentioned details on what Hawks owes GT Auto. I am not saying that Hawks is not a very good company, they are. I would like to and believe I have the right to respond to Hawks supposed facts. Fact #1 is completely correct. Fact #2 is not completely true. GT Auto was formally a seperate company. George, however, was completely involved with production and design of new products. I KNOW THIS, I WAS THERE! IT IS NOT JUST SOMETHING SOMEONE TOLD ME! Fact #3 is also partially true. At the beginning product shipment was within a few weeks. As I have said in previous replys which seems to be going unnoticed, Hawks and others WERE TOLD NOT TO CONTINUE TAKING ORDERS AND TO TELL THEIR CUSTOMERS OF THE LONG DELAY. IS IT TOTALLY GT AUTO'S FAULT THAT THE VENDORS DID NOT DO THIS? Fact #4 is true. GT Auto had never previoulsy had any problem with payment from Hawks. They have had an excellent payment record with GT Auto as I am sure they have with all their manufacturers.
LP1guy,
HAVE YOU MENTIONED TO BRUCE THAT YOU WERE ONCE VIGOROUSLY TRYING TO GET GTAUTO TO SELL THROUGH YOU? WHICH WOULD HAVE TAKEN SALES AWAY FROM BRUCE! IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, KEEP YOUR COMMENTS TO YOURSELF!
I am done with replying to LP1guy's antagonisms. But, I will not allow LIES to be told without response.

Gtfiberglass, no one cares. Your company has a deserved bad reputation, and its doubtful anyone here will ever deal with you again. There are too many prompt, honest vendors out there to bother with ones like you. All you do is make excuses.
As far as trying "vigorously" to carry your products, yes, I did contact GTAuto close to a year ago for my employer, who was interested in carrying another brand of fiberglass hood. We decided against it, which from the looks of things, was a good decision. You guys are a joke, and a disgrace to the aftermarket parts industry. BTW, Bruce is very aware of this venture, and others. We've been friends for several years, and there is little about me he doesn't know.
As far as "keeping comments to myself"...in case you didn't notice, this is the aftermarket vendor review board. I'm a member of this board, and I'm "reviewing" you. At best, you're incompetent...at worst, you're a crook. Don't like it? Too bad.
Lp1guy...lol

you guys are too much...
lt1guy, i'm not sticking up for anyone, but quite honestly, your pissing up a rope. you had your say leave it at that. Its apparent that you really have no clue whats going on. Why don't you let gt auto work out its problems with its customers and distributors and YOU can give yourself the the pleasure of not purchasing a product from them.
This is a vendor review board, not a vendor bashing board. You've spoken your opinion, thanks, there are some of us who appreciate it.

I recieved a reply from todd at gtifiberglass the other day. I sounded pretty reassuring. Of course he appologized for me not recieving my wing after 6 months. He asked me to email me my phone number and i did, but i have not recieved a phone call or a return email as of yet, and its been over a week. Oh well, im hopeing for the best and assuming that he has just been busy. Im not about to sue someone for nothing either, but ill do what i have to do, and i am also always down for a good roadtrip. If i only had an address........lol
Man, honestly, i just want to get my wing and be done with the whole deal. Thats it. BTW, 4 days ago i ordered 5 different parts from JEGS including hooker longtube headers..... i recieved all the parts in 4 days....of course i was excited, but it makes me wonder how long it really takes to recieve something that you order over the internet.

True. I ordered tires from tires.com. Shipping was free, plus you can't beat their prices. I got some nice Yokohama's for half the price the local tire shops sell them for. Free shipping and they arrived on my doorstep in under 24 hours! Matt
Spoiler Order from GT Auto
Wow. What a mess. Potential business owners take note!
I am one of the folks who has not recieved a spoiler that I paid for nearly a year ago, see my post above. Todd has been in contact with me via email. He has promised to refund my money. Since I brought my complaint originally to this board I though it only fair to say that the company is attempting to make things right. I'll let you know as soon as I get the refund.

wow! And all because I wanted the 4th gen style spoiler for my Camaro!
Todd(gtfiberglass) is there a new web site yet? If so could I get the link from you? If not is there one in the works? I am still interested in the products you offer.

Cuno, Hawk's is working on a new vendor for that spoiler as we speak, and has the hoods also. Give Bruce a call at 864-855-2694 for the latest on the spoilers.
Thanks LT1guy. I was hoping to get a hold of that spoiler real fast! I am ordering the hood(and hopefully the spoiler) within the next month to 2 months. I was hoping to have it all put together and painted before the thirdgen meet in Iowa in June.
I will contact Bruce and find out what is happening with the spoiler, again thanks for the reply.

Heres the word on my wing. Todd emailed me on 4/19/03 and told me that he had a wing for me and he was also going to reimburse me $$$$$ for all my troubles and such. I emailed him back that day and asked him when he was going to ship the wing and money and when i could expect it. Still no reply and today is 5/1/03. Im getting sick of this crap. It always takes them about 2 weeks to return emails.....and when you do get a reply, its just some crap to put you off longer. Had it up to here (hand up to the top of my forehead) with this ****. I ordered and paid for that damn thing back in early september.
