LT1 or LS1

I would like to know what makes an LS1 engine better than an LT1, and which one would provide the most torque and accellerating power

The LS1 has no unreliable OptiSpark, no reverse-flow cooling, has 15deg valves instead of caveman 23deg, and the list goes on.

Out of the box, the LS1 makes more power than the stock LT1...but both respond very well to mods like cam and heads.

I agree. Out of the box, the LS1 is more powerful, but both are competent HP makers.

To add to what was mentioned above, the LS1s also have "cathedral" intake ports in the cylinder head and rollerized fulcrum rocker arms (the non-rollerized tips keep them from being "true" roller rockers).
