They would work but the 01-02 maniflolds flow basicly the same so there is no performance increase by going to shortys. Your only option for that is long tubes but no one makes them right now. Hawks is suposed to come out with a pair here by may/june other then that your only option is to take some regular hooker sbc LT and cut them to fit lst flanges that you can get from GMPP.

Shorties are a waste... Stock manifolds flow well enough

Another alternative would be to run the LS2 stock manifolds. They will designed to flow much better than the LS1 manifolds.

750 for the headers, 1000 for headers and off-road y-pipe, and 1200 for headers and catted y-pipe. Headers are stainless steel so prices are about right(qtp and kooks are 800).

yea planning on ordering there headers w/y-pipe and there k-member monday(can't wait). When i talked to them yesterday they said that they fixed the issue with the alternator hitting the stock steering with the k-member which made me happy. Also i wonder why they went with 2 1/2 inch y-pipe and not a 3 inch all well could have been for clearance.

he assured me that the headers would work with the stock k member.
the car that was used to make the headers had a stock engine crossmember. this is comming from hawks.

Yes they do work with the stock k-member but i ordered the tubular one cause i wanted it . I looked at it and if i went with the stock K-member i had to buy the ac relocation bracket and that thing is like 250 so for 200 more i could go tubular so i figured why not.

yes this is pretty much the last straw... I need to start making serious plans for the LS1. The only part I still want to see is a k-member from Spohn and I'll have my dream setup.

About those LTs, will they need to be coated or anything? I currently have SLP headers on my 355 that were supposedly 'stainless' but gawd are they rusty already....

I wouldnt hold your breath on spohn's k-member, i talked to him about 3 weeks ago and it didnt sound like it would be out for a while.

BMR's k member is just about out. the regular k member for an SBC is already being sold.
looks pretty beefy too. its 4# heavier than a PA unit. not too bad.

They are stainless, 409 stainless, a low chrome, easily weldable, cheap alternative with less corrosion resistance than other "stainless" materials, only sightly better than galvanized. 409SS will turn a brownish color with slight rust but it shouldn't rot. Suprisingly, they use 304SS for the flanges for "better sealing and long life"

Spoke to Bruce Hawkins earlier tonight.............

Yes there are O2 bungs on the headers

He has 10 sets of headers coming arriving in 3 weeks

He has 10 MORE sets of headers coming a few weeks after that

He said he hasn't dyno'd any of them yet, but he got the car back that they used for making the jig, and he's guessing at least a 25-30 hp rear wheel gain on a stock engine with these headers and y-pipe, based on how badly it beat another 3rd gen stock LS1 they had.

Wow, cool. I was thinking of selling my thirdgen to geth a 4th. But now I'm seriously thinking about staying 3rd and going with the LS1. There's awesome aftermarket to make = power. Granted expensive. But this engine favors a 3rd gen. Downright sexy!
