Time to rebuild, Moog, what am I missing?

I am replacing my stock rear and am putting in new LCA's, PH bar, and shocks.
Since after this I will need an alignment I figured I'd go ahead and finish off everything so I dont have to pay for 2 alignments.

Struts
And after hearing everyones recommendations I decided to go with Moogs products.
MOOG's:
Centerlink, DS1049, $65
Idler Arm, K6249, $55
Inner Tie Rods, ES2227RL, $46 ea, need two; total $92
MOG-K6345 Lower Ball Joint 84-96 Chevrolet $65.69
MOG-K6346 Upper Ball Joint 84-96 Chevrolet $70.99

Am I missing anything? I was looking for outer tie rods which is what I really ned but I can't find them so maybe they don't make them, I'll just get them at NAPA or something. Anthing else I am missing before I order them?

Chris

Moog makes both inner and outer tie rods. Also, 3rd gens don't have an upper ball joint.

Unless your car is in GREAT shape, replace the a-arm bushings and motor mounts with poly ones, Energy Suspension can hook you up. Why get all new stuff and not replace these too if your bushings are shot?

Moog parts are really good and I highly recommend them. Also look into TRW. Summit sells Moog and they'll have what you need. While everythings apart, replace the motor mounts, too. It's easier that way.

Here's the list of parts I just installed. Maybe you'll see some you need or forgot:

Energy Suspension:
Motor mounts, A-arm bushings (lower only, no upper a-arm or ball joint on these cars), sway bar and end link bushings, bump stops, trans mount, tie rod and ball joint boots.

Moog: Ball joints, center link, inner and outer tie rods, idler arm.

Hotchkis: tie rod adjusting sleeves (I'd replace these somehow, either with stock pieces or aftermarkets. Your old ones are probably rusted badly.)

BTW, you won't need an alignment if only replacing the rear end components. These do nothing to the front end geometry. Just make sure the rear end is centered between the wheelwells and you should be set.

Look at my rebuild page for a photo journal of my rebuild and brake upgrade. Click on the first 2 links:

replace both inner and outter tie rod ends and since you're doing that trash the whole thing and buy new tie rod sleeves, make life a lot easier and long as you're trashing parts torch off the sway bar bushings and buy new ones. along with all the bushings in the control arms you might want to consider replacing the springs.

The part number that I found for the Moog Outer Tire Rod end is ES2226RL. Hope that helps a little.

Also for the lower ball joint they have an inproved design avaliable. It's has a part number K6145T. I think that the price you have listed is a little high too. They're about $24 from Carparts.com

The Moog part number for the adjusting sleeve is ES2032S.

I have a feeling I'll be doing the same rebuild myself soon. I guess after 160k miles that sort of this should be expected. Let me know how it goes.

FYI, I used the "regular" Moog ball joint, P/N 6145 and it was fine. I didn't really nkow any difference B/T the 2 so I used that one. But either should work OK.

Thank you for your responses, they certainly do help me quite a bit, otherwise I would have ordered parts I don't need and not have ordered stuff I do need. Since I don't need an alignment after the rear replacement. I may put it off another month, spread out the costs.
I'll have to look more closely at what was said when I get more time though.

you can buy allot of the parts at advance for less then summit charges. summit rear springs cc-635 $65, advance cc-635 $45.

trw and moog = same thing. check the part numbers, identical. plus i just picked up brand new springs from advance listed as trw on federal moguls site and are federal mogul/trw on the box. same lifetime warranty, same great handling.

Wow the price certainly goes up fast.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MOG-DS1049 CENTERLINK 82-92 F BODY $64.39
$64.39

MOG-ES2032S SLEEVES ADJUSTABLE $10.99 X2
$21.98

MOG-ES2226RL OUTER TIE ROD ENDS $34.99 X2
$69.98

MOG-ES2227RL INNER TIE ROD ENDS $45.39 X2
$90.78

MOG-K6249 IDLER 82-92 CAMARO/FIREBIRD $54.69
$54.69

MOG-K6345 LOWER BALL JOINT $65.69 X2
$131.38

SubTotal: $433.20

and thats without any bushings, springs etc.
Is there a kit with all of the bushings?
I have alrady changed my trans mount and sway bar end links and bushings. I'm not sure I want to change the motor mounts because I want to sawp out the engine within a year, of course I guess I could use it then too.
Also are there any spring that you know of that are good quality but dont lower the car too much? No more than 1", too many slopes and potholes here, front ground effect took a beating befoe and is newly painted.

Chris

Oh yes, i pluged the numbers into carparts.com and the preices were higher than summits. I think there is 1 advance auto parts store about 10 miles from my house I may try them tomarrow after I put my shift kit in. Thanks a lot again for your help.

Can anyone else confirm the correct Moog part number for the Lower Ball joint?

I'm coming up with K6145T or K6145 instead of K6345.

From Summit: MOG-K6145T is only $20.39

If it's the same part it would be a $90 savings.

I used K 6145 and they fit great. Both K6145 and K6145T will work.
