Cap and rotor

Cap and rotor

Well the other day I took out the IAC and cleaned it all out, which I think partly helped my problem. My car no longer does the rev thing when I start it. But now when I turn it over it somewhat seems weaker of a start? Not exactly sure what the cause of that is. It still starts on the first try, perhaps I'm just paranoid or something. Also when I'm goin' WOT I sometimes hear a click noise or somethign from under the hood. I have no clue what that could be... And I checked for jumping sparks under the hood at night, but I may look again.

It's been about 15k miles since the cap and rotor were replaced. Would you think this would help? I would have replaced it when I did the spark plugs and wires, but funds at the time were low. But my questions are:

1.) What cap & rotor should I buy? From where? And would anyone happen to know the part number?

2.) Can I get a performance cap & rotor even though my wires aren't 8.5mm? That's fine if that's the case becuase then I will just pick up some 8.5mm wires as well, but again, I don't know where to find them for my car!!

3.) The job needs done anyway, but would this perhaps be part of it?

Your cap and rotor is still good if it only has 15000 miles on it . Usually people get 100,000 out of their rotor . The dist cap should atleast go to 50,000 . Is it just taking you one crank to start the car ?

Yeah, I just crank it over and it starts, it just doesn't feel strong...?

Glad to hear the IAC cleaning helped... like Wayne said, caps and rotors usually last a long time, but it couldn't hurt to change it anyway- like you said, it needs to be done. You could always clean the cap terminals. Remove the cap (leave the wires on), and remove any deposits from the 6 terminals inside. The Accel cap is #8133; ACC-8133 from SummitRacing.com, you should be able to look it up by part # to get a price.
