Heat Blower Motor
Heat Blower Motor
My blower wont work on high. All of the other settings work. I tried replacing the switcj still didnt work then I replaced the motor still dosent work. Any ideas let me know thanks.
I came on to post the exact same question for my 83 Z. I changed the relay also that mounts to the right of the blower motor. The only thing I didnt try was the unit that goes down in the top of the heater box housing ,with the curly wires on it. I dont know what it is. Any help with what that unit is and why our blowers dont work on high would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Bob
when blower motor is on high setting, the motor gets power directly from the battery. trouble points include a bad fuselink at battery, bad relay, problem with the climate control switch, and corroded connectors.
on any setting other than high, power is applied to the blower motor through a series of resistors on the top of the heater box in the engine bay.
wiring diagrams are avaliable in the technical article section of this site.
good luck.

The curly thing you describe is the blower speed resistor. When the blower is on full the relay is the voltage source for the motor. When slower speeds are selected the resistor is used to drop the voltage to the motor hence reducing it's speed.
