TPI Vortech Base and Runners

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new TPI Vortech Base from SDPC. Or Summitt has a Edelbrock Base and runner combo. Just wanting some feedback on these. Thought about putting them on my 350 I'm going to build. Isn't the Edelbrock the same as the TPIS bigmouth?

Yes, I'm using the SDPC vortec base, but with AS&M semi-siamesed runners. The SDPC vortec base has worked great for me. I probably got one of the first one hundered made for distribution. I did no additional porting to it - just bolted it on. See my sig. for additonal details on what my combination is and how it is running.

Also - "Yes", the Edelbrock and the TPIS Big Mouth manifolds are basically the same casting. However, the TPIS guys do some additional hand porting on their manifolds. I can't really say which is "better", but I ran the Edelbrock (p/n 3860) with SLP runners for 3 years on my old TPI 355 (before my 383) and it ran great.

Hope this helps.

SDPC = ???

. .. and what are the supposed gains from just the base? I've seen them for a few hundred bucks and wonder what they can add for so much.
I heard just the runners add about 10-15hp.

thanks for the 411.

SDPC = Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center. They're a GMPP dealer that sells GM bolt on performance stuff (one of the largest in the country). They designed and had manufactured (I'm pretty sure Edelbrock does the manufacturing) the only hi-flow TPI intake manifold that matches the raised runners of the Vortec heads. If you are running vortec heads on a TPI setup, this is the only manifold that will "properly" bolt directly up to the heads. The base is worth probably 20 good horsepower (just like the TPIS Big Mouth or the Edlebrock 3860 would be to a non-Vortec TPI setup). They sold for about $399 when I bought mine. And - "Yes", I would agree with you that runners alone (on a 350) will add 10- 15 hp. Hope this helps a bit.
